Full Metal Gear Rising Conference Q&A
Metal Gear Solid's creator talks about the upcoming action game in development at Platinum Games.
Just after the 2011 VGAs, Konami held a press conference for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, its upcoming action game that features Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Series creator Hideo Kojima took to the stage with Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba to explain their partnership and the new direction for this action-heavy Metal Gear game.
What's Hot on GameSpot
Can't wait for MGS5 and MGR! About time they branched off and made a new franchise with this great series. Raiden is the perfect character to do it.
Vanquish was AWESOME! I was skeptical, but then played a demo. The game play is so much fun (story is minimal). That is, a comparison to that, then add a MGS story line. I am probably in (I'll wait for the reviews though).
Superman Rising !!! Thanks GameSpot for The new news
Actually I am not impressed and I don't find it exciting, it reminds me of Vanquish and Devil May Cry.
Futuristic Dynasty Warriors directed by Michael Bay? No thank you.
May not be part of MGS but started out more in line with the series...I agree that changes seem more disappointing than exciting.....Time will tell if it can stand on its own as a great MG game.
@Outer_Raven I did not say that i hate the game, im just dissapointed with what i see so far. And Dude, games aren't sentient beeings, so they wont mind if i donīt get their name right. BUT, I still think that some games are just clever, like all of the metal gear series. I do hope that this game rocks, 'cause like everyone else i love great games (duh). But so far it looks just another rack and slash. Letīs pray that i am wrong right? cheers!
ITS NOT MGS PEOPLE. ITS MG.
So far not impressed, but time will tell.
So far it actually looks like they took a guy from MGS, added some moves from VANQUISHED and lots from Dynasty warriors and in the end will have some strange, futuristic button-mashing game that will get some good reviews because of the "METAL GEAR" in it's name though it will be a complete waste of time and money. P.S. I think they should add zombies too - every awesome game have those nowadays.
@djforlife84 yes, because a "kiddy game" usually lets you cut every limb of an enemy. -_- How can you call this a "crappy game" if no one in the world has played it? I thought that the Metal Gear fanbase was mature enough to judge a game after the game's complete and has been reviewed, but I guess I was wrong.
@simbacorks you do know that games aren't sentient beings, right? They're not alive, so they can't be smart or dumb. Also, his name is Raiden. How can you hate a game if you don't even know the protagonist's name?
You fanboys need to quit whining, Like someone pointed out this isn't MGS, it is MGR, and it looks like it good be a bloody good action packed time.
Also disapoointed... i used to like metal gear games because they're inteligent. I used to hate devil may cry and bayonetta 'cause they were just dumb. Its seems that raynden just got dumber.
Looks ok, Maybe if the boss fights are better then Bayonetta.
i'm completely disappointed about this title...i just thought about this one in a whole different way
@farigor this isn't MGS, it's MGR.
@daub11 no it's not gonna be the last Metal Gear game. Kojima said in an interview that the next Metal Gear game he makes will probably feature The Boss and the Cobra unit.
Well, I'm gonna buy this Metal Gear May Cry -game regardless of its crappyness :) Though, I'm also happy that Kojima's already said that he'll make an original type sneaking MGS sequel game in the future :D
The trailer, I thought, has the sweet sweet action that I'd like to see in anime - and it, also similar to anime, would be way cooler in Japanese.
is this going to be the last and final M.G.S game cause it seems like it is probably going to be.
@farigor - good thing it's not an MGS game.
Konami, Memento Mori ! MGS means "stealth gameplay", but this version seems disappointing.

I had some hopes for this game, but it looks like it's moving even farther off the path from the MGS series. I was sure that they said it was going to have a lot of familar stealth gameplay even though it would be a bit more action oriented. The gameplay just looks like a speedy hack-and-slash -- I get enough of that already. The blade handling and mechanics looked very promising from the earlier videos, but now it doesn't look like that even matters very much for the gameplay. Hopefully they will have something more to demo than just that action.
Will skip this game.
I want a Metal Gear solid remake from the PS1. I think a lot of people would like this too. Too bad these Japanese companies make absolute garbage these days.
This game looks absolutely awful and I feel its an embarrassment to the Metal Gear franchise to have its name on this crappy game. I used to play games like this on PS2. common Japan, create some actual good games for once, not these kiddy, clunky awful looking games that seems to be the norm outa that country.
I mean i appreciate that they're trying to do something new and creative but personally i feel they're taking a leap of faith, and forgot where the soft landing was
They have turned Metal Gear into some anime crap. I miss the old fashion Solid Snake.
what the f**k is going on, not again
OLD!!!
