Final Fantasy VII begins with an evil power company called Shinra Inc. that's found a way to mine universal life energy, draining it from the earth and using it to control the universe. Shinra is opposed by a resistance organization called Avalanche. The story revolves around Cloud, an ex-soldier of Shinra, who teams up with Avalanche to bring down Shinra. Along the way he encounters some very mysterious and powerful allies who help him fight against the creatures Shinra has created to protect its empire.
Cloud Strife
 The main man, 21-year-old Cloud Strife is a mercenary (formerly a member of Soldier). He quit after an accident and now wanders about taking violent jobs if the price is right. Moody and independent, he is a reluctant ally of the rebel forces. Cloud slices and dices his foes with gigantic double-handed swords.
