E3 2011 Breakdown
Wondering how many games Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony brought to E3 2011?
Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony came to E3 2011 to show off upcoming new games. We've broken down just how many games each of the major players brought, the consoles they're coming for, and whether they're first party.

I love how the Icons for each of the three companies are the most badass icons that each company has to offer exclusively and not the most generally associated ones (i.e. Master Chief for MS and Mario for Nintendo).
@Tygraph Well, since we know there are, its already good. Nintendo doesnt have the 3rd Party sony and Microsoft has but still keeps everything in good shape with their first party and with the special 3rd party( that arnt the obvious shooter/killing cliches) that get underrated. Lets be serious,if all 3 had to survive on their own without 3rd Party, Nintendo would be top, with sony second and Microsoft would be dead. Im not hating either, but nintendo is doing the most work
@hotdiddykong I'm not hating I'm just pointing out an observation. If they really had that many games people cared for the Wii wouldn't have been such a shamble. When they do come out with something worth while (which just happens to be the obvious games) the system is good.
@cjf187x i do agree it does not live up to the very high expectations that it left after the years. especially since i'm playing it since GT came out on PSone. still not mediocre though. I really do not drive against walls nor fellow driver's cars and I'm generally no person who thinks games have to be graphics-perfection when it comes down to trees and cockpits - gameplay's always fist. especially when driving a simulated car. forza looks really really good, to get back to the genre. @y2kern i apologize for my cocky speech. but i think you misunderstood. i do not think that any console has too many fps titles. i just favor mouse and keyboard without autoaiming when it comes down to fragging. time splitters was fun though. @speedfog ranting about microsoft being a web developer still seems off topic on a gaming community website :P sry
@kazroot I loved Gran Turismo, but you can't deny that despite all the cars and tracks that it offers, it was still a pretty mediocre title especially compared to Forza 3 (a better comparison would be FM 4) where there is damage (it's a simulation game) before level 40, and the trees don't look like cardboard cutouts.
@ kazroot i know mass effect is not an exclusive but that does not matter to me, its one of the best games on any platform, its better than any exclusive game sony has ever made. you are trying to say that the 360 has to many first person shooters, but the ps3 has just as much, dust, killzone, mag, resistance, the difference is, the first person shooters on the 360 are actually good.
@y2kern how is gran turismo 5 a mediocre title? couldnt care less about gears of war 3 and halo anniversary - FPS to the mice! and mass effect is not so very exclusive. "next year the new consoles generation will be revealed along with its launch titles i am super excited" is more like it ;) @biased numbers: [del]
lol its funny how every one talks about microsoft conference focusing to much on kinect, but no one seems to remember all the crappy ps move games shown for e3 in sony's conference, i suppose if you throw kobe bryant in there like sony did that makes it A okay. there was nothing special about sony's conference, unchartered looked impressive but it was also shown at last years e3, ps fans love to talk about exclusives and most of them always end up being mediocre, just like mag and gran turismo 5. most third party games end up being better than sony's exclusives. the 360 has good exclusives coming out before the end of the year. forza 4 , gears of war 3 and halo anniversary, mass effect 3 comes out in march which is going to keep me occupied almost until e3 2012. next year the new xbox will be revealed along with its launch titles i am super excited.
@Tygraph I love how people like you always think Nintendo is only doing "Mario and Zelda" Look around, theres Punch Out, Sin and Punishment, Xenoblade(UK and japan), DKC, Excite truck, Kid Icarus, Luigis Mansion and many more. Open your eyes and see that Nintendo isnt just shoveling everything, and that they actually work hard, not that sony and Microsoft dont, but they heavily rely on 3rd Party to suceed.
Sony is giving some real games not that motion control crap, nintendo is giving top quality 3ds games, and Microsoft lol is only focusing on kinect and COD deals with activision, they should but first party studios and make some great games.
Sony presented to many games to making their show feel a bit shallow (except for the Vita). I think if they focused on quality mostly finished games rather than quantity they would have done a much better job. Also MS presented a pile of **** this year.
@samanthademeste Nintendo won because of their great new console and all that, not the games.
Anyone taking this serious is an idiot with the numbers not even adding up??? Can we say sloppy work!!!
@Johnindigo Nice Catch. GS you want us to believe in this, when your readings are all wrong :P
Um, Gamespot. Your numbers are..Off. Sony: 102% Microsoft: 98% Nintendo: 100% + 8 Wii U experiences. You only got it right with nintendo, what's up with that?
A few things I'd like to point out about this obvious troll article.. 1) M$ and Sony both displayed more software than Nintendo and yet "Nintendo won E3." (I guess next year I should show up with a Nike shoe box and call it a NEW System, then I'll "win" E3. Hoorah for celebrating mediocrity) 2) The simple fact that GS excluded the PC even though they had arguably the best looking game on display is just sad. And lets not forget that a number of those multiplatform titles are also coming to the PC. 3) I'm no mathematician but those numbers seem off..
Yeah 102% is bisaed when all the others add up to 100% on the dot, Sony keeps pushing online but their online system is so bad it's not even funny. plus more exclusives or not their quality has fallen off big time as of late the fallowing games were let downs from Sony this year already: Killzone 3 Greand Turismo 5 On top of those 2 major titles for online for Sony flopping they then announced a crap load of PS2/PSP to PS3 ports to make there line up look better because if you look at there confrence as a whole as I did on G4TV it was a major let down almost all the games they showed were not new, plus if that was not enough half of them were ports of old PS2/PSP games 2 systems they are dropping this year. IMHO The only cool things Sony showed was the Uncharted 3 footage (Yet agian forced into 3D which hurts the looks of the persentation for those of us watching it on TVs without 3D) From Dust, and Sly Cooper. That was it that was new and the sly cooper trailer was not even real gameplay just a CGI trailer........... I'm sorry Sony fan or not that was a major let down nothing but ports, and 4 times they said they were "Sorry for the PS3/PSN Hacking............." BTW for those who claimed you can get the CC theft pertection you do have to sign up for it and it's only one year while others offer full life time of the same service.............
all systems are great and different. nintendo and ms has few exclusives but great quality. sony has more exclusives, more focus on single players and stories so i prefer them. i play everyday 2-3 hours and am pissed if i dont have 2-3 great games at a time, so i prefer sony for more good games instead of 2 great games per year like ms or 4 steller games per generation like nintendo...
Well Sony may have pulled out in front at this years E3, but just in the nick of time. Sony would have been gone in about a year or two the way things were going. The only thing that would have saved them was PS VITA and a win at E3. Sony says that 90% of their customers returned to their network and only lost 10% after being hacked. Yet 100% of Microsoft owners don't have to deal with that nonsense. Count this as a blessing Sony it might not happen again when you go down hill and trust me you probably will.
Nice breakdown, interesting to see how many of them were first party games for each system.
Nintendo and Xbox landscape is pretty desolate right now for core console gaming, the best kind! Sony needed to show a lot and they did.
Way to go Gamespot for Instigating Fanboyism and Flamewars. Another meaningless post.
I don't think its corporate slave fanboyism to recognize that Sony (for now) is clearly the company prioritizing the type of gaming experience that most 'gamers' are looking for and that is worth pointing out. That said, it doesn't mean they are going to keep doing it, so I think Sony should be supported with this strategy because from a strictly business point of view Microsoft with Kinect and Nintendo with the Wii are doing quite well.
Check out the ratio of motion control with Nintendo Wii games (32%) to PS Move games (8%) to XBOX Kinect games (16%). Totally shows those companies philosophies at the moment, doesn't it? Someone trying to copy Nintendo... cough Microsoft cough.
@hotdiddykong Have you ever noticed the only games on the Wii that people even cared to hear about were the basic Mario and Zelda? Of course they would only talk about those first party. People play those and the console rots while people wait years for the next adventure. Sure when Nintendo did make one of those game the Wii was the ish, but that didn't help the long run. Hope that helps your thought :)
Its funny how nintendo and sony have to talk about their online networks, xbox doesn't because everyone knows xbox live is the best!!!
@megavideogamer Wii u play, more like"will u play? ... please?" i don't like nintendo with all there stupid mini game collections
I guess Nintendo could cobble those 8 Wii U "experiences" into a party mini game collection, and fobb that off as a pack-in game when the Wii U launches. Name it "Wii U play?" Nintendo needs something to show why the tablet controller is important right out of the box. This is one launch that Nintendo has to get right from the start. Otherwise the Wii U will quickly dreamcast.
If that would have happened one year ago it would have been like: "Sony and PS3 sucks! they are loosing bla bla and they are not like microsoft that rocks because bla and halo bla and fable blaaaaa bla bla bla". Today, when we see sony doing good and microsoft not so good it's like: "Hey I love my xbox bla, why do you hate microsoft bla bla they made only kinfail games but they are not supposed to be a leading company anyway bla bla" Haters went harsh with sony when ps3 wasn't in good shape, now it's just reversed, it's just coming back, you can't complain. I hate system wars and haters, but I love justice and balance, so all I say: This time, microsoft failed, take it and go home, and shut up :)
@SgtStrungOut well wouldnt we all be a little more hungry if it wasnt for all of the filler? You read it, and commented on it so it did its job
