Amazon
The amazon was the first character class designed for and implemented into the game. Although all the classes are new in this game, the amazon bears a striking resemblance to the rogue. However, she is much more than a simple bow-wielding woman. She is an amazon, with all the strength and resilience that name conjures.

The amazon is perhaps the game's most well-balanced character, good with melee weapons and possessing a few spells. She of course excels in ranged weapons, such as bows, and weapons, like spears and javelins, that can be used as both held and thrown weapons. Some of her skills will improve the effectiveness with which she wields her weapons. Jab, for instance, lets you strike with four weak but quick blows in the same time you would land a single one.
The amazon, as well as other characters, also possesses passive skills, which are always in effect once purchased. Stieg provides this example, "Critical Strike gives the amazon the chance to do double damage. Once points are put into a passive skill, the skill is always in effect. The more points that are put in this skill the more chance of double damage."

In addition, many of her skills involve magically enhancing her piercing weapons, so she can add effects, such as poison and lightning, to her blows. Says Stieg, "The Amazon's skills also have interesting combination effects. For example, while in hand-to-hand combat you can use skills like Lightning Strike, which on impact causes a lightning effect to shoot lightning through the target at all the monsters in the area."
Here is a list of skills Blizzard North provided, showcasing the amazon's capabilities.
Jab: Early skill that causes you to hit four times in rapid succession in the span of a normal spear strike. Although each individual hit is relatively weak, the four add up to more punch than a normal thrust.
Poison Javelin: This skill causes poison damage (few creatures have resistance to poison).
Plague Javelin: This is similar to poison javelin but creates a billowing cloud of poison around the target.
Lightning Strike: Causes forks of lightning to shoot through the target upon impact, possibly hitting other creatures nearby as well.
Critical Strike: A skill that once purchased is always in effect. Gives you a small chance of inflicting double damage with any attack.
