Imperium Unit Descriptions and Strategies:
Guardians

screenshot The basic Imperium infantry unit. They're cheap, they're disposable. Good thing too, because you'll dispose of plenty of them by the time you're finished.

Vulnerabilities
Guardians move slowly, have a weak, limited range attack, and can't withstand an attack from any Freedom Guard forces for any period of time. At least the Freedom Guard doesn't have an equivalent to the Imperium Shredders.

How to Get the Most out of Guardians
Unlike Freedom Guard Raiders and Mercenaries, who can phase and launch surprise attacks, Guardians don't have any tricks up their sleeves - they are the most basic unit in the game. Use them in large groups when you use them at all, as they won't last long against anything other than the most haphazard of attacks. Guardians actually do quite well against Freedom Guard Spider Bikes, because the Spider Bikes' rail guns aren't quite as effective against infantry as they are against armor, so charge isolated Spider Bikes whenever possible with your infantry. Guardians are really only useful at "filling the gap" and stalling an enemy advance. Scatter Guardians (using the x key) if under artillery attack or face the consequences.
