Freedom Guard Unit Descriptions and Strategies:
Medics and Mechanics
A key advantage of the Freedom Guard is its ability to use medics and mechanics to heal and repair infantry and armored units, respectively. With no weapons and weak armor, medics and mechanics should be protected well and away from enemy attack range.
Vulnerabilities
Even the computer AI is smart enough to recognize the value of medics and mechanics. As soon as an enemy is within attack range, the first target of opportunity will be your medics and mechanics.
How to Get the Most out of Medics and Mechanics
It's worthwhile to group medics together, at least in pairs, so that they can heal each other if wounded. Keep your medics and mechanics back, away from enemy fire. The only exception to this rule is when you have armored units trading blows with enemy units. Use a mechanic or two to repair your units while they're firing, which will allow them to outlast their opponents. The damage to your mechanics may be a worthwhile sacrifice to save your armored units. It's also not a bad idea to keep a mechanic handy to repair Freighters (allowing them to continue harvesting instead of retreating to a repair facility) and construction units.
