I've beaten Diablo 3... But I still think that Dark Souls is the best game since the current gen platforms have been released. I hope once PS4 comes out, From Software wows us once again... Praise The Sun.

Gryn89 18 pts

where can i find a in depth site about the story of this game because i do not understand it one bit.

adamomars 15 pts

@Crazyguy105 i seee. thanks for clearin that one up! did you learn form the game or some external source?

Crazyguy105 31 pts

@adamomars Thats because Gwyn turned hollow. He sacrificed himself to the First Flame and it burnt him from the inside out.

tightwad34 34 pts

@Phantom_Guard Ha! Yeah that rat is tiny isn't it? If you are having trouble the best way is probaly to sit back and either shoot it with arrows, firebombs, or magic if you use magic. If none of that works for you then try to summon someone to help you if you play online. I will try to remember to drop a summon sign there in case you haven't beat him yet. Good luck.

Phantom_Guard 5 pts

Is it just me or did i saw a baby rat in the depths. And i tried to kill it but i can't. Help anyone.

tightwad34 34 pts

Thanks12eece I went there and apparently I could still get through to talk to the lady engulfed in the egg things. All I could get was the upgrade to the pyromancy flame. No spells. Anywhere else you guys can think of for fire spells? Or is it all pyromancy when it comes to fire related abilities.

@tightwad34 the fire spells can be found after defeating Quelaag, head down the stairs at the far end and there is a hidden path behind a fake wall to the right of the exit to Demon Ruins

tightwad34 34 pts

Oh yeah, almost forgot to say this is the best game I have played since I can remember

tightwad34 34 pts

I am going through a sorcerer run but I can't seem to find myself a better catalyst. Anyone know where to find one, and where are all the fire spells? So far only the soul arrows, etc...

Nice farming tip. I used it to level up my STR and DEX so I could wield the BKH.. Ordinarily it would've taken me a long long long time to get my stats from where it was to the reqs for BKH. Thankfully due to morons #1,2,3,4 jumping off the cliff everytime I leveled up faster. Now wielding it, the farming trick wasn't needed (which also needs more and more time eventually as you need more runs to level up even one stat by one point), but it is useful if you need quick fast 7000 souls in less than 2min to buy some item

adamomars 15 pts

i still dont really understand the story. Gwyn seems so 'un-lordish' in his cave of ash. I suppose its due to lack of referance to pre-Gwyn rule.

Faramarzzz 5 pts

this game play with your nerves, play with nerves, play with nerves........i gotta admit: i'm f*#^*k up.

666Rich666 78 pts

I've had this game since launch and somehow (aside from Silent Hill: Downpour, which i picked up yesterday) its still the only game I play. It pretty much trumped Skyrim to the point that whenever I try to play it, I get bored in 5 min and go back to Dark Souls. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Game of 2011.

Brewratt 5 pts

@peter_siong The ending was very disappointing, but the game itself made up for the lack of an ending.

Sif is a beast! Doesn't intimidate me tho... I've fought worse. Going to fight him this evening.

Derugs 5 pts

This game should be taken personally.... 'seriously'. Told a friend of mine, "When you buy this game and play it it will change your view on how a good adventure rpg should be. Play at your own risk!"

Brewratt 5 pts

" I did it! " 120 hours later I beat the most amazing game I have ever played!

satvricon 5 pts

dark soul game of the year......

Derugs 5 pts

Greatest and most in 'DEPTH' game ever made!!! the detail in this game is unparalleled with anything. Closest thing is Skyrim and even that doesn't compare to the dynamics of this game. Never played anything like it before. i thought this wouldn't top Demon's Souls.. boy was I wrong!!

kambion313 5 pts

PEOPLE, everyone plays this game differently, if you're having a hard time with an area, drop a summoning stone, and learn the area before going forward. DUH!

PerseusSuthil 5 pts

I need some advice, my character is at level 115 with only the last boss left, is there any point in leveling up some more before the last boss? will i benefit from that in NG+?

toonsim2 20 pts

This game is really tough and im struggling so far. This guide is helping me understand the basics so thank you Gamespot.

xkrlosmirandax 5 pts

I talked to that Oswald of Carim and I think this game is great but does very little explanation on game mechanics so when i talked to him i had like 15000 souls to level up and i just wasted 13500 to be "cleared from sin" but i really dont know what that does....

peter_siong 5 pts

Tough game to play and finish, invested lots of time and effort but the ending..... not worth it. Sigh...

Stormbringer33 5 pts

@nappy4u---you need to have a curved sword (scimitar/falchion etc.) at +10 and the soul of quelaag and ascend it at the giant blacksmith in anor londo it is upgradeable to +5 with demon titanite and scales with humanity(i think)

nappy4u 5 pts

can anyone tell me how to get the quelag furysword, i know it says that you can only get it by ascention, but ascention what?

gnarink 5 pts

@peter_siong is pretty spot on the tips he provided: "Best combination for me: Knight, skill: thief, balance between sword and pyromancy. best sword: Quelag furysword, best shield: crystal ring shield." Also IMO best items are as follows: (rings = Dark Wood Grain Ring + Havel's Ring) (armor = Havel's Set) (sword = Quelag furysword) (shield for perry = Grass Crest Shield) (shield for offence = crystal ring shield) (shield for lightweight builds = Dark Hand)

For those who are working, and find it impossible to juggle the time between work, life and dark souls, there is no other way but play with guidance of this online walkthrough.. Start with the walkthrough from page 1. It will save you from utter disappointment and frustration when you made grave mistake: i.e: killing the only guys who sells egg vermifuge when you are infected with the stupid egg helmet! Best combination for me: Knight, skill: thief, balance between sword and pyromancy. best sword: Quelag furysword, best shield: crystal ring shield.

@Chachachedda Don't give up bro. While I'm one of this games biggest fans, I have to admit that the learning curve can be a bit steep for some gamers. I'm not afraid to admit to a few of the bosses having kicked my ass 10 times before I defeated them, but with persistence and attention to their patterns I overcame them. It's a very unforgiving game, yet it is the best I've played in years. My advice would be to watch the enemies attack patterns and learn to counteract them. Also don't go by anyone's set strategy or charachter build. Find out what works for you and go with it. Good Luck! I hope you're still giving it a chance. Don't give up and go hollow!

666Rich666 78 pts

Isn't it funny when people review this game and give it a low score just because it kicked their pathetic asses? I read these reviews and realize that they probably didn't get much farther than the first or second boss (if that). I'm not a fan of Call of Duty games, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go online and give it a sh*tty review just because I don't like the game. Anyway Dark Souls 10/10.... PRAISE THE SUN!

chachachedda 5 pts

Right i got this game at the weekend after reading the reviews and it was 30 quid for the limited edition, so thought 'no brainer' but i am terrible at it, i know it says you die alot in it but this is ridiculous, was thinking about getting rid because i find myself doing the same bit over and over. Am i giving up too easy, should i soldier on because around work gym and the ladies ;) haha, im an avid gamer, great at the likes of skyrim etc but im having muchos trouble with this game, maybe i need to work out a combat strategy or something, also with there being no map or general 'what to do' its a little overwhelming. so back to my original question..... am i giving up too quick or should i just stick to it? also my xbox live is Chachach3dda if anyone wants to send me any tips or anything haha thanks

"This is the best game to come out since the next-gen platforms were introduced. If more game developers would pay this much attention to detail in their games, we wouldn't be overwhelmed with crap"... I totally agree with this comment. I'm in front of screen since Commodore 64 days, this one has been the most addictive, best looking and most thrilling game ever made... 10/10... I hope they make the 3rd one very soon :) Totally recommended to real gamers...

New Game + just makes a great game even better. When i watched the credits roll I had to drink a toast to all of the people who worked so hard to make this game. Not since Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Metal Gear: Solid, Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill 2, have I felt so drawn in by a games environment and depth. This is the best game to come out since the next-gen platforms were introduced. If more game developers would pay this much attention to detail in their games, we wouldn't be overwhelmed with crap.

so funny that the dark lord (the bad) ending is actually the GOOD ending. praise the sun? i don' think so :) the 'gods' just try to use you to extend the age of fire(age of gods), while in truth, the age of dark is the age of men. the only good thing about these sun deities are the princess's boobs :P

666Rich666 78 pts

Just beat Dark Souls... Best game I have played in years is the simplest way to put it. Now to play new game+ to get the other ending. To be honest I was sad to fight the final battle. I didn't want such an amazing gaming experience to end. Game of 2011.
