Hercules Dynamite TNT2
The first Dynamite TNT2 board I received had a TennMax Lasagna cooler on it, which was very encouraging. The next one I checked out had a different cooling fan, which worried me. As it turned out, both boards ran at a 190MHz core clock and a 220MHz memory clock.
But you really don't need to crank up the clock rate. Hercules ships the board at a default clock rate of 175/200. At that speed, it's very, very fast, edging out the Voodoo3/3000 in our 16-bit tests. It performed near the top in the 32-bit gameplay tests as well.
There are some quirks with this card, though. Hercules pretty much sticks with the Nvidia reference drivers, merely wrapping a fairly spiffy control panel around it. But the install program is one of the worst I've seen. It can even leave your system thinking that it can't run 3D at anything above 1024x768. My advice is to install the drivers as cleanly as possible. That means setting Windows to VGA mode. Uninstall any vestiges of previous graphics drivers. You may have to edit the registry. It's unfortunate that the install software blemishes an otherwise fine product.
