Sportsman's Paradise is a collection of arcade hunting, shooting, and fishing games released in 1996. The graphics are dated and terrible, the gameplay is erratic, and the sound is usually very bad. So why do I keep playing Pigeon Hunt? Because it's the only game I know of that lets me live out my fantasy of going into my neighborhood park and blasting the crap out of all those flying rats that swarm me when I'm trying to eat my lunch.

EAT IT, PIGEON
Notice the exquisite pile of gore I'm leaving in my wake.

My interest in Prairie Dog Hunt Pro, however, is not based on real-life yearnings. I don't think I could ever actually mow down a field full of cute little prairie dogs, but it's loads of fun to do on the computer screen. (By the way, WizardWorks, the little critters' tortured squeals as they explode in a pile of red guts is the product of a sick programming mind; I'd be really careful before you lay off anyone over there.)

At $19.99, this game isn't a bargain, but between the six games featured in the package (Trap Shooting Pro, Duck Hunt II, Pigeon Hunt, Prairie Dog Hunt Pro, Pheasant Hunt, and Fly Fishing) you should find something you like. Just keep in mind that this game came out two years ago, so it doesn't even approach the level of quality of the other games in this roundup.

For an updated version of Prairie Dog Hunt Pro, you can download Prairie Dog Hunt Pro 97.
