1. If there were one moment from gaming you'd put in a time capsule to represent the 20th century of interactive entertainment, what moment would it be and why? Ron: The early days of computer games were magical. Every thing that was tried was new and different. We didn't have fancy graphics, just game design. There were no big companies - even Electronic Arts was small back then. I would love to capture the feel of those days; the days before egos and fighting over royalties.
Ron: The mass market. Mark my words - it will change everything. Games like Diablo and Command & Conquer will still sell millions of copies, but those numbers will be dwarfed by the 10s of millions of copies of games for the masses. And I'm not talking about gimmick games like Deer Hunter, although that was writing on the wall that every serious game designer should read carefully. Next: Ron Gilbert (cont.)
