As the second inductee in the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, Sid Meier's impact on gaming is epic. Always looking for the unconventional, finding the unique idea, and championing innovation, Meier has been responsible for some of our industry's best and most ambitious games. From hallmarks such as Civilizations, Pirates!, and Railroad Tycoon, to his latest efforts such as Gettysburg and an upcoming dinosaur game, Sid Meier continues to push the limits of gaming into a new stratum.

1. If there were one moment from gaming you'd put in a time capsule to represent the 20th century of interactive entertainment, what moment would it be and why?

Sid: There were one or two moments for me personally when I was impressed with what computer games could do. Playing Doom one time, I was really into the game and something happened, and I found myself jumping out of my seat, and that was the time I realized it was totally possible to suspend your disbelief and believe a game was actually happening. And I think it was a revelation that games could be so engrossing that you forgot what else was going on and got wrapped up in the universe of the game. It has happened to me several times, and at those points, I realized that we're onto something special here with computer games.
