Design By: James Cheung As we stand on the cusp of the new millennium, we cherish the past and imagine the future of PC gaming. Locked in our minds are the indelible experiences from games past: Those moments that are inextricably etched in our conscious because of their sheer emotional impact. Whether it was a line of dialogue in Monkey Island, a puzzle in Ultima Underworld, a botched landing attempt in F-15 Strike Eagle, or just finally getting up to the ninth level in Tetris, we all have our moments in gaming. These moments were created by designers, artists, programmers, and all-around visionaries who have helped shaped the world of PC gaming. So, as we usher in the new millennium, it seems fitting to invite a group of gaming's greatest designers to help us celebrate the dawn of a new century in gaming. After all, as Doug Littlejohns at Red Storm Interactive says, "When measured against the history of mankind, the gaming business has gone from the Wright Brothers to the stealth fighter in the last 10 years." Where's gaming going to take us in the next century? No one's quite sure, but we assembled a team of twenty visionaries to help us answer that question, among others. From Meier to Molyneux, Sperry to Spector, and Wright to Roberts, welcome to GameSpot's Millennium Gaming feature, where we look back at the past and ponder the future of PC gaming.
Next: George Broussard and Scott Miller
