The Special Achievement Awards honor games not only for their greatness, but for their ability to emblazon themselves onto our collective memory. Each one of us has to think back over the entire year to remember which games had great music and which ones had great stories, those with great endings or outstanding cinematics. This trip down memory lane was fun, not least because it reminded us of how much fun we had gaming in the past year.
So here are our choices for the Special Achievement Awards. It should come as no surprise that many of the games chosen here are also listed in the Genre Awards section. After all, it takes great individual features to make up a great game - most of the time, at least.
