It's on again! As the Aussies and the British take to English fields to contest yet another exciting Ashes Test Cricket series, the GameSpot AU and UK crews are again set to do virtual battle for the pride of their respective nations. It's country vs. country, colleague vs. colleague, as we contest the 2009 GameSpot Ashes!

The GameSpot Ashes will see the GameSpot UK crew take on their AU counterparts in a five-"test" series for ultimate gaming glory. Each GameSpot Ashes test will be held to coincide with the real-world Ashes Cricket series, with a new game being chosen for each round. And you'll be able to watch the video highlights of each GameSpot Ashes Test right here! Cheer as your favourite AU/UK editor displays playing prowess (or lack of)! Gasp as the headshots and hadoukens fly thick and fast! Wince as the trash talk reaches almost biblical proportions! And cry as your country's representatives possibly embarrass themselves (and you by extension) in front of large international audiences!

The Aussies have recent form, winning the last GameSpot Ashes series in 2006/2007. The GameSpot UK team hasn’t spent the last two years idle, however, patiently honing their gaming skills to a level previously thought unattainable by mortal men. GameSpot UK's Guy Cocker, Luke Anderson, and Mark Walton are eager to tear the sinewy flesh off their Aussie rivals and won't let anything get in the way of a UK victory. But the fit and nubile Aussies--Randolph Ramsay, Dan Chiappini, Laura Parker, and James Kozanecki--aren't exactly pushovers and are ready to unleash a tsunami of gaming pain on anyone even considering taking their title as reigning GameSpot Ashes champions. Who will win? Stay tuned over the next few weeks to find out!

Third test: 7 September 2009--Ashes Cricket 2009

It's the third and final test. Can the Aussies (Koz and Randy) salvage some pride and win in Ashes Cricket 2009 against the UK (Guy and Luke)? Or will a lack of skill (and, of course, lag) defeat both teams?

Second Test: 31 July 2009--FIFA Soccer 09

GameSpot AU's Koz and Laura strap on their footy boots and take on Guy and Mark from the GameSpot UK team in the second Ashes test. Can the Aussies beat the Brits at their own game?

First Test: 10 July 2009--Street Fighter IV

GameSpot AU's Dan and Randy combine their hadoukens to take on GameSpot UK's Guy and Luke. Who is made of sterner stuff? Who will stay strong? And who will blame lag for a loss first?

I really expected Guy to be a bit better at FIFA, but both of you should have passed the ball around more instead of just collecting then sprinting straight.

we were always going to win against the aussies. should have picked a game that appeals to both countries to make it fairer.

maybe should have played the ashes game or if its not out yet then cod4 or halo3.

    @tuckerp2006
Wales does have it's own cricket team, but just like with our football team, we haven't got a very good team xD

tuckerp2006. i see where you're coming from, Scotland has its own cricket team, but not test team, and its actually the England and Wales cricket board. So its half of the UK really.

"why is there now a team called UK?? I thought the ashes were between Australia and England.. Scotland has their own cricket team as well im sure Wales and Northern Ireland do. So if the team playing Australia was the UK, then it would consist of players from all of these nations.. Not trying to be picky, but the ashes is between England v Australia, NOT UK v Australia."

Both Scotland and Ireland have there own cricket teams, however the England team is actually England and Wales. Hence the Welsh not having there own recognised side.

Nice to see the GS Ashes again since it was enjoyable to watch last time. At least the UK and AU team manage to put out content at a regular basis unlike that other team that shall remain nameless. No offense but these two put out a show each week and a podcast etc while the other team just do a podcast and very little else besides interviews, reviews etc.

The end bit was funny. LOL.

I was hopping they would have played more than 3 rounds.

I wonder what the next round will be? I am hoping an FPS game so that the whole crew on each side can play.

It isn't the U.K team people its the England team! a U.K team would have to feature the Scotts, Irish and Welsh to be called that.
