It's expensive, may never live up to its full promise, and has the longevity of a Russian dwarf hamster, but there's something irresistible about unreleased hardware that drives us to seek out and devour every single piece of information about these new products, no matter how trivial it may be. We took a short break from stalking PR reps and sweet talking developers to put together a list of our most wanted hardware. Add a comment at the bottom of the page to get your own most wanted hardware onto the list.

Black Nintendo DS Lite

The Nintendo DS Lite is already available, but we only have the white Nintendo DS Lite here in the US. You'll have to journey to Europe to get the black version. However, if you're impatient enough to import one, remember to get a US Nintendo DS Lite AC adapter to get the charger to work with our 110V electrical system. Knowing Nintendo, we'll get the black version and other colors stateside as soon as everyone has bought the white one.

Red Octane Guitar Hero II Controllers

Guitar Hero for the PlayStation 2 became a hit by letting players mash away on the whammy bar and bust out solos. However, it can be difficult to rock out on a controller that's barely larger than a ukulele. Our contacts at Red Octane tell us that they're preparing a new, totally revamped controller for release later this year, likely in conjunction with Guitar Hero II. Get ready to rock!

Nintendo DS Browser

Part hardware and part software, the Opera browser for the DS finally brings the World Wide Web to Nintendo's hit portable. The browser takes advantage of the DS's touch-screen functionality for both text input and Web browsing. Initial performance reports indicate that the browser is merely passable for e-mail and basic Web surfing, but we still have to get one just so that PlayStation Portable owner next to us will stop looking so smug while waiting for his pages to load. The DS Browser is currently only available in Japan. Nintendo has not announced if or when the browser will arrive in the US.

Our list doesn't include all the interesting upcoming hardware that we want, since we had to limit ourselves to the Most Wanted items for this feature. Complete our list by adding your most wanted hardware below.

Waiting for everything to be on the table before I say anthing if all the rumors are true on all systems I would be in heaven but I am dissapointed in the 360 one of my friends own one an he plays saints row with lots of glitches and freezes so I will wait and see if the ps3 is all its cracked up to be and the wii looks like current gen graphics right now so I have to see all angles before I jump in to either side

You can plug in a USB Keyboard, and maybe mouse, with a 360. In fact it's probably going to be manitory for people to use a keyboard for chatting in a town in MMORPG like in the final fantisy one, to prevent the hindreds of screaming people, and leaves vioce chat for party chat.

Only thing i want is mouse and kb support for 360, then it's a real gaming machine, right now it's just a home arcade machine.

It is a good thing the ps3 is not on this list. You can have the best hardware in the world but if you dont have good software the console is useless.

  • rugripper40

    Posted Sep 5, 2006 2:54 pm PT

the ps3 should be on this list....i dont know of any console todate including the 360 that will compete with a pc.the ps3 claims that it will do away with the need for a pc.it will have a browser....does this mean you can add a hardrive with windows xp and use a mouse and keyboard just like you use your pc now?.who knows but that would be hilarious,if you could, have the best of both worlds at your fingertips.

a sony playstation 3 with a microsoft operating system....funny huh?you never know.... stranger things have happened in the past....lol....cheers

DX10 Graphics, Intel Core Duo 2 X68000 Extreme (or whatever is better from either Intel or AMD in the future), Nvidia 590 SLI Intel Edition based Mobo (or better), and the fastest/most overclockable DDR2 or DDR3 (coming soon) RAM you can get.

I just want some dx10 games like crysis, a dx10 card, nintendo wii, and a 120 inch HD projector. Actually make that an Imax projector, plus a place to put it.

Along with all the other stuff of course, like 360, ps3, new cpu, mobo, and memory, and I'm homefree! At least for the next 2 months... if not less...

    1) Wii, Love it...
    2) PS3 too, but too expensive...
    3) PC? Nah, Upgraded every day, can't follow it, every day a new **** comes out and you have to worry about it that I can play blah or bluh or ****?
    4) X360 Vision? I don't think so, I'll wait for the Wiimote.

That is what i hate about pc gaming. If you upgrade, you can't play the older games but if you don't upgrade you can't play a single new game! Now another DX comes out, what to do...
