Chapter 4 - Battle Mode Tips
This section offers a collection of tips on Pikmin 2s two-player battle mode.
- Pikmin 2s two-player battle mode could be called "Capture the Marble" as the objective is to retrieve your opponents marble and return it to your onion. You can also capture four yellow marbles to meet the same win requirement. Note that if your enemy moves your marble halfway to their home, you cant move it back! It will have to be defended at the new position.
- Maps contain neutral enemies that will attack you or your foe (such as bulborbs or wollywogs). Sometimes a yellow marble can be found inside an enemy. Most of the time youll likely want to stay away from battling too many neutral enemies but they can be returned to the onion. But if you struggle against a neutral enemy, your real foe could capitalize by wiping out your remaining forces and attacking your captain. If you lose your captain, you also lose the game.
- Neutral enemies pose the biggest problem when youre trying to haul something back to the onion. A hungry bulborb could eat your pikmin carrier rather easily. Utilize your captain to distract the neutral enemies and allow your haulin pikmin to get home.
- Gain a pikmin advantage on your opponent by producing more at each opportunity. Use the posies near your start location to generate more pikmin and combat easy to defeat creatures and return their corpse to your onion for more pikmin. Obviously it can be a double-edge sword if you attack the wrong neutral enemy and suffer losses.
- Grab a cherry to receive a bonus power-up. Its the power-up roulette! It spins in the corner; the symbol it rests on resembles a particular power-up. The chart below reveals each power-ups graphic and its use.
