So, you've made the decision to enter the mystical world of EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark and create an avatar of yourself to explore the realms of Norrath, as so many adventurers have before you and as others will afterwards. But where do you begin? Norrath is as treacherous as it is vast, and every one of its sprawling plains and crowded cities is fraught with peril most dire. A careless adventurer who sets forth into the demesne of griffins, giants, and specters with nothing so much as a clue often ends up looking for his corpse shortly afterward.
But Norrath isn't just a deathtrap. A knowledgeable adventurer will find countless hours of fruitful adventuring, glorious battles, intriguing quests, and many good friends. Norrath is a colorful land populated by many different races - humans, elves, trolls, dwarves, and even lizardmen - and by many different monsters - some mere nuisances, others made legendary by their power. It's up to you to decide whether you'll take the hunched form of a scaly iksar lizardman or choose to be a diminutive gnome instead. You'll decide whether you'll wield powerful magic in the form of healing, conjuring, or destruction... or none at all and instead take up a sturdy sword or axe and charge into the front lines of battle. But making the correct choices is a matter of knowing what works, what doesn't, and, most importantly, what's right for you. This is because when you do decide what sort of role you want play in the realms of Norrath, you must commit a considerable amount of time to develop your character.
That's where this journal comes in. After all, any adventurer worth his salt knows that successful expeditions require preparation beforehand and proper equipment along the way. This journal will get you in the know about how to play EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark, how to choose and create a character you'll enjoy playing, how to manipulate the game's interface, interact with other players, triumph in combat, and stay alive. And once you've gotten started, you can continually refer to it for information on spells, monsters, and important locations within the game.
