EGM2's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Strategy Guide
figure by Andrew Baran and Tracy DiViscour

Konami's classic Castlevania series gets updated in this 32-bit platform adventure. Like past games, this one also has plenty of enemies to battle - but this time the graphics, sound, and new gameplay elements (like the RPG trappings of experience points and item accumulation) show how so much more can be done on the systems of today. As VideoGameSpot reviewer John Ricciardi put it, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is "possibly the best 3D action side scroller ever." At the very least, it's as good on the Sony PlayStation as the original was on the 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment system.

The US version is finally here, and it has been enhanced over the import. The enemies have more animation and voice. Rumor has it that there are more codes too. You will rarely find a game with this much depth and gameplay. In the course of working on this strategy guide, I have beaten this game five times in succession and still haven't tired of it. But, enough about me - let's get down to business. The following guide provides a full walk-through of the first castle in the game, complete with general strategies, maps, monster stats, secrets, and more.
