Ahh retro helix...it pushed the envelope just like the first fear effect but with the bonus of, well, girlie uh..action.

Yes retro helix has the -now famous lesbian- elements and the costume changing...oh the joy. But at it's heart it is still a fear effect game and really centers on the tightened up gameplay mechanics from the original. The flash of the story may divert you for a while, but at the end of the day the game is still about fear and evil. in a gorgeous pre-cel-shading environment. the controls are a bit less stiff this time around, and the puzzle elements have their high and low points, but the feeling of tension in the game is just as high as the first time around and that's the most important return the sequel brings.

alas it appears this will be the last fear effect as eidos has officially scrapped the "inferno project" and so a third installment seems impossible at this point. it's too bad since eidos doesn't have much left at all that's any good these days.
