Despite knowing absoulutely nothing about this series its still pretty fun if a little too easy.

Chances are Im not the only one who had no idea about this series. While it sounds like an interesting enough story I cant be bothered finding out the full story. From what I can gather its about a giant macguffin and 12 people trying to find it and use for some reason. Thats the part I can sum up with ease. Going into character backstories, motives and such is a bit too hard to do. But I will say this most of the characters are fairly interesting if a little stereotypical at times. Theres Gilgamesh the Blood Knight both literal and trope wise. Theres Shiro who follows that traditional japanese hero thing determinator celebate hero etc.

Anyway gameplay wise its fairly basic following the Street fighter approach to combat with light medium and heavy attacks and super moves that depend on the amount of magic you have. To be honest even on higher difficulties i had zero problem winning matches. Id normally press the same button for a full round and win.

The Super moves naturally do the most damage but are a nice sight to look at. Each character has two super moves and one Holy Grail Burst move which in most cases wins the match. These moves are awesome to look at and even more satisfying when you win a match with one.

The graphics are nice especially the stages Underground Cavern might be one of my favourite stages in any fighting game ever. The in game graphics are some the best for psp outdoing Tekken Dark Ressurection and Soul Calibur Broken Destiny no doubt about it.

If there is one area I have a complaints about the game is the arcade mode. You fight through eight stages and theres a midboss on stages 4 7 and 8 is the final battle if Im honest its genrally quite weak and doesent offer much in terms of granting any further information about these characters. Of course it could be justified as this game was aimed at actual fans of the show and was meant to draw in other non fans. And to be honest I am intrigued by this series unfortunately there isnt much for the english speaking fans in this game in fact there is no english voiceover in the game which makes understanding some of the post and pre match banter hard to understand, but there is one thing I appreciate when you beat a characters arcade story you unlock that characters voiceover for all the menus again nice touch.

Finally theres a mission mode which allows you to get better at the game though frankly this seems pointless as you can win a match by pressing the same button over and over again or some ten hit combo you only need to use to complete one mission.
Its definitly a fun game if far too easy. Its not a bad game by any means but it can only appeal to a select group of people.
