Far Cry Video Review (Xbox)

Am I wrong in saying Crysis is nearly the same as this but updated? The setting even sounds nearly identical. An island filled with forests, a mad scientist responsible for the more surreal enemies...

even today this game's graphics are more beautiful than plenty of shooters out there the music is awesome too, definitely movie quality

Even today,it one of the best games I ever played,better than most of these consolised and corridor shooters we have today.FC is one of those games that made me a PC gamer,and I will love it forever,its a masterpiece for me.Its sad that FC3 will never reach the greatness of this game,it will probably be good,but not as half as good as this.

Oops...I retract my comment about Crytek not being able to make a worthy sequel...I forgot they were't involved with the many sub-par Far Cry sequels. They moved on to the Crysis property - which is worthy.

One of the best shooters of all time. Too bad neither Ubisoft nor Crytek seem able to make a worthy sequel. The problem with games like Half-Life and Far Cry is that they make other FPS games single player campaigns seem sooooo boring. I have to come back and watch an old video review just to remember what a good FPS is like.

@CreatureRising: Well, you just have to see each game for what it is, I guess. People tend to underrate sequels by trying to compare them too closely to the originals. Far Cry is a perfect example, as these are definitely different types of games. They're not even developed by the same teams: Far Cry was by Crytek, and Far Cry 2 by Ubisoft. Personally, I much prefer the type of shooter FC2 is (and I love Ubisoft games in general), so I guess it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges.

I hope Far Cry3 will be like this,without that big open world with no story,like in FC2.It was awesome,but FC1 was a lot better.

@InfectX Are you saying that Far Cry 2 is better then the orginal Far Cry? Personally, FC2 was good, but was a mass dissappoint to what it could have been. Far Cry is still one of my favorite shooters.

It was $7.50 for Far Cry + Far Cry 2 on Steam yesterday, amazing deal. Picked this up and loving it.

I admire this classic for having well balanced attributions to make it mirrored next to Half life 2. Open yet structured for action, comparable timeless graphics, and an itinerant narrative to keep one glued. A masterpiece where the action tells the story. 10/10

meh, I don't care what anyone says; Far Cry 2 was better. Also, Half-Life 2 was much better than Half-Life.

The best 1st person shooter i ever played i played it from july 08 til like this last spring and to the the guy who regrets bying it cause its to hard awwww witlle babye gamer! noooob! i beat it twice, once on realistic HARD!!!!!! (hard as hell on realistic) but any half way decent gamer can beat it on medium (my sister did)

i started to regret getting this because of how hard it is. the checkpoints are so far and no manual save and the health can drop like a rock in a second and theres little health pickups as well

i think i might pick this up seeing as how cheap it is

Whoa. We've come a long way since 2004, graphics wise.

For those who cant run crysis on their systems, this is probably the closest to it.

I think "crysis" is far cry 2, not Far cry 2. It (cysis) is like Far cry 1 more than Far cry 2. You know, same developers!

Everyone keeps talking about how Far Cry and Far Cry 2 have nothing in common. They do!!!!!!!! The point is that they are both a 'far cry' from the reality that we live in and take for granted...... It sounds kinda philosophical like that but you get me

This is a great game. I actually still find the graphics impressive eventho its 5 years old and after playing Crysis.

I don't get why Far Cry 2 has this title. What does it have to do with Far Cry? Sure, for a game that was about open world enviros and advanced graphics its no loss. But everything else is different. Now, you could have Jack Carver in Africa sure, but it isn't, is it? Its is a great game though, but it doesn't deserve to be a sequel to #1.

Wow, Jason Ocampo looks really different in this video. Anyway, i want to buy Far Cry 2, but i've never played the first one and everybody said is better than 2.
