Tropically Good.
The games location takes place around lagoon tropical islands known as 'Micronesia'.
You play through each level as 'Jack Carver.' A former U.S Naval commander dishonourably discharged for a number of illegal activities, who now makes a living ferrying tourists and divers around the islands. Whilst living in Manhattan, the Mafia had put a price on Jack's head for supplying rival gangs with illegal arms.
The beginning of the game sees a female 'Valerie Cortez' offer Jack a large sum of cash in exchange for being taxied to a remote area of the islands known as 'Jacutan'. Once at her destination, Valerie heads off alone by water scooter whilst Jack uses the opportunity to get some sleep. Hours later Jack is woken by a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter which destroys his boat leaving him for dead. Now with no transport, Jack goes off in search for Valerie and his cash whilst under the instruction from an unknown friends voice that is being transmitted to Jack through a headset he finds.
Throughout the game your given a good selection of weapons, but what makes this title stand out from other FIrst Person Shooters is'nt just the stunning tropical visuals, the impressive audio or even the great action sequences.. It's the feral abilities that Jack eventually acquires a few levels into the game.
Personally speaking, I thought it was a refreshing change to play through a game set in such a lavish location.
