What a great game, doesn't disappoint. Any FPS fan should check this out!
Graphics
First off the game is completley gorgous, it is really hard to believe that they made this game look so great. You will find yourself a lot getting lost in the landscape of the enormous island. It almost looks as good as the pc game before it. They were just able to capture the atmopshere, that actually made me feel that I was on a troical island. The only downside is that occassionally with all the great graphics and enemy fighting going on screen that I did encounter a few slow downs, but besides that thumbs up on the graphics.
Gameplay
The game plays just as well as it looks. It is pretty straight foward, the usually FPS, pick up a gun, shot, and then kill. You get your basic guns pistals, shotguns, assault rifles, and of course a rocket launcher. One cool weapon that you have is actually a trap. You can use trees around you to put a tree whip with spikes on it that whips foward when a enemy walks by. This makes for some interesting stragety. Abut a hour into the game or so you aquire some animal enstinct powers if you will. You gain the ability to see in the dark basically like a infared mixed with night vision. You also get a powerful melee punch too, that throws your foes into the air.
The game gives you one direction to go not given a lot of choice, but there are a few instances where you choose the path that you want to go, although all of the paths lead to the same place. The A.I. in the game could have been a lot better. This is the one thing that this game lacks that the pc excelled in. The enemys will do there best to take cover, although they are not good at it at all. Many times the enemys won't even shoot back when you are right in there faces. The A.I. isn't as work out as it could have been.
Sound
The sound in this game is pretty top notch. From the sound of the 6 moter power vehicles to the sound of the birds and bugs in the tree. The voice overs from the A.I. does begain to get a little tidious, but that can be easily over looked. The voice acting in the game is very well done also. The weapons are also really good.
Value
The game has a really good lasting value, not to much reason to go back through the story mode, unless just wanting to replay a really intense level or even use some of the cheat codes. Lucky enough there are many other modes that can also keep you busy. They put a create a map mode in this game, that puts a more lasting value on this game. You get to choose your setting and then the item set you want to use with that setting, for example a tropical setting with a military item set. You control everyhting from the time of day, weapons on map, vehicles on map, and the choice of spawn points for the types of games. You can even take your created map online and play some friends. Online game types include capture the flag, a basic death match, and a game called predator.
Lastly, this game has enough content to keep any gamer busy. There are a few hicups here and there, but nothing major enough to ruin the gaming experience. This game gets two thumbs up.
