Far Cry 3 is an engrossing experience which delivers tons of content on the table. The open-world is the next instalment from the previous Far Cry 2 in which some people have had bad after tastes from. Back to the subject;

Story time

You start into the shoes of Jason Brody, an average rich kid from L.A. who have been kidnapped him and his friends by the Red Shirted Pirates lead by Vaas, an insane leader who takes pleasure in killing and torturing prisoners. Lucky for you, you escape from the facility but things aren't granted (No puns intended); you are alone in a vast jungle world with pirates, animals and dislocated thumbs due to exploring. From this point on the game develops into a good and enriching story that leaves you hanging for more. Although a few inconsistencies arises by time to time, you won't have time to rethink about them when you get engaged into the story quests.

Gameplay

Far Cry 3 is an open world, so if you feel like head on duel with an alligator to collect the hide, you can do it. If you want to go massacre an enemy outpost with tons of explosives, you can do it. Or if you feel like kicking back and soar into the air with a glider, you can do it. That's a major appeal of the game, you can do whatever you want, whenever you like. Although the second tier of the map will be unlocked once you advance further into the mission, the first island will keep you many hours exploring, stabbing, driving, and putting duct tape on your wounds. Climb radio towers and reveal sections on the map, just like the developer's other game, Assassin's Creed.

Far Cry 3 features a MP and a Coop section that unfortunately fails to appeal as much as the single player does. Coop is very linear and MP doesn't compare to a good old shooter. It's a fun thing to go for if you feel like doing something different, but the single player is the main ride here.

Graphics

Basically, a very gorgeous looking game on PC with Very High settings. Enough said.


Final Thoughts

I was really hyped for Far Cry 3. When I bought it, it wasn't exactly all I expected. News and trailers always seemed to put an accent on the psychological effects of Jason's action and sights, such has having mad dreams and bad drug trips and that Vaas is a consistent enemy that you will see often.... which unfortunately, you see approximately less than 5 times. On another PMS note Far Cry 3 doesn't hold back on a few other elements from its predecessor, such as weapon decay, and multiple healing animations, which aren't a big deal, but were always satisfying gore, such as pushing a bullet out of you're arm with your finger and realigning your dislocated arm.

But don't let this fool you; it's an excellent game with very few flaws.
