And this game truly is insanely good. After being disappointed with the last Far Cry, naturally I've stopped following any news about the third one. When it finally came out I decided to give it a try after all. Very glad I did, instantly loved it.
We are back on a tropical island (right there where we belong, I'm looking at you Crysis 2/3) with a bunch of friends. Everything looks idyllic until it doesn't anymore. Some crazy pirates crash your party and here is where our story starts, and where my talking about the story stops.
Gameplay really is the strongest part of this game. The world is huge and there is just so much to do to get lost in. Game is quite addicting and draws you in instantly from the start. Liberating outposts filled with enemies, hunting animals and skinning their leather which you can use for crafting new bag slots, wallets and ammo holders. Discovering new regions of the map by climbing a viewpoint (clearly a homage to Assassin's Creed). Plenty of mini games and collectibles for all the OCD troubled minds. Loved the leveling system and that you can customize your skill points the way you want. This is what takes it from a generic shooter to something more. Driving is as fun as always and there is less of it this time, a lot of fast travel makes it easier and less tedious. Almost every story or side mission was fun to do. At times been there done that kind of missions, but most of them felt special and memorable.
Shooting is alright, doesn't really stand out much compared to other fps games. It does stand out finally when it introduces the Bow. This is the weapon I've used the most. Extremely fun to use if you like a sneaky approach.
Some of the bad parts: Animals are retarded and some of them eat a lot of bullets before they die. Most of the skill points are essentially useless and even more so when after some time you can have them all. Stealth is sometimes silly, hiding in the bush while the enemy that is standing 2 feet away doesn't see me. Main protagonists voice.
Beautiful open world, decent graphics, memorable villain coupled with excellent gameplay and good amount of hours to finish makes for a great game. If Skyrim and Just Cause had a baby...

Far Cry 3 is an extremely inviting adventure in a vibrant and lively island playground worth exploring.
