A great shooter leading the way in how singleplayer should be like for First Person Shooters

User Rating: 9 | Far Cry 3 PS3

Jason Brody and his gang are on a trip over the world partying and having an overall good time. They go skydiving and land on an island not quite like other islands. They get captured and soon realize the dark side of life. Jason soon finds himself in situations where he has to fight for his life and get his family and friends back from the clutches of evil. In Far Cry 3 you get to go at your own pace after an hour exploring it how you want to and choose how you want to play it.

The overall gameplay in this game is really solid. From hunting, exploring, platforming, shooting mechanics even flying is really well done in this game. It is really easy just to get lost by the sidequest, exploration, unlocking radio towers, hunting or freeing camps. There is just so much variety in this game. Take the radio towers for an example. They are all different, and they all have different ways to go to the top and unlocking a part of the map. It's not diffcult, but it is a nice touch seing you have to approach every tower in a different matter and climb to the top. These are just sublime, but really shows you the detail this world has.

The story begins really sudden and gets deeper the longer you play the game. On the surface it may look like a superficial a simple story, but it has several layers to it. There are two sides of the Jason he needs to choose between deeper in the story. Being the warrior and going the darker path or staying with your friends and leaving the war and the darkness behind. It is really well told and doesn't paint it as black and white as it might sound.

The audio work of the overall feel of the game is really done aswell. You get lost into the jungle or the ocean by the great soundesign. When you hear the roar of a tiger, but can't see it makes you really immersed into the game. The voice acting is as good as the rest of the audio design. With great voice acting in particular with the villain Vaas, gives the story more depth than it perhaps it wouldn't have without him

The graphics of this game looks amazing. They have really done a well job with this game. From the exotic jungle to the beach and ocean. The overall look of the game is just amazing to look at. The characters also look really good in this game. Where conversation and facial expression look really realistic and you get more immersed into the story than you maybe wouldn't have otherwise.

The vast open world in this game gives you game you can just spend hours and hours in. The developers give you a lot of value for your money. There is enough variation between the regular story quests, sidequests, exploration, co-op and multiplayer to give a big enough experience that is worth the money when you buy it.
