Does this game have co op?

Does it have co op like open world co op? or what kind of co op?

There is a co-op option in the main menu, but its just some missions with waves of enemies that have to kill, not exploring the whole island/story together.

Yes. The co-op is four-player and has a separate story that runs parallel to the single player story. It is also set on another island, and plays a lot more linear and on-rails than the single-player campaign.
