Far Cry 2

A coworker got this game with a video card. He's not into first person shooters and gave it to me. I now wonder if he hates me.

This is yet another game in the "open ended" genre, which is where a bunch of artists with no clue about story or drama created a pretty world and then find excuses for you to walk around it.

In short, you get silly missions, spend several minutes getting to them using vehicles that are essentially identical in a horrible sort of way through terrain that is extremely repetitive. You spend a few seconds wiping out the enemy. Repeat. Over and over and over again. I kept waiting for something dramatic to happen, but nothing did. I kept waiting for the game to be harder than sitting, but it never was.

I will never understand this genre of game. It so pointless and boring that whatever story there may be is lost in the tedium. I'm left to wonder if the reviewers received a different game from me or do they simply have no taste?
