An alright puzzle game, but it's real purpose is to show of the PS2's graphics.

I am mainly writing this because this is the first PS2 game I ever bought. And it actually means a lot to me. I bought the PS2 the first day it hit stores in America. Camping outside a store at 5 in the morning is not fun. But anyway. The pickings then were very slim. You had almost NO games that came out around the time PS2 debuted. This is the game I bought. Gameplay: Usually I combine gameplay and story into one section, but since there is no story I'll be moving onto the gameplay. The gameplay is pretty fun for the first 30 minutes. And that's about how long it'll take to learn what you are doing. Because, for a puzzle game, this game tends to be on the complex side. Also a bit confusing. Some people may be able to pick this game up and play right away, but I was not one of them. Anyway, the game (after about 30 minutes) starts to become a bit repetitive, which is alright at first. But then it just gets boring. But this is a launch game, so you really couldn't expect to much to begin with. This game will not keep you entertained for long. Graphics and Sound: When this game first came out, there was a lot of hype about the graphics and how this game was going to show off the PS2's cababilty graphics wise. And for the time it did. You have to understand. At the very start, designers do not really have a feel for a new console. Thus consoles graphics, as the console get's older, tend to get much better. Take that PS for example. During the begining, the graphics weren't that great, and then we got games like Final Fantasy VIII. So the graphics for this game are going to stun you at first. But then, like the gameplay, it gets boring. The levels in this game are nothing to get excited about either. They pretty much all look the same. The Sound isn't that great either. Like everything else, it's a bit boring. Summary: This game came out at the PS2 launch. Is it just coincidence? No, they were trying to show off the PS2's graphics. In fact if you think back to the days before the PS2 came out, this was the show case for it's graphics engine. But as a game it really doesn't fair well. It could have been so much better, because the gameplay has potential there, they just don't use it. Thus the game turned out a bit dull and boring. If you must play, please rent first.
