New Vegas.. Can you match up to your predecessor?

User Rating: 9.5 | Fallout: New Vegas PS3
Fallout 3 was definitely a needed change in game play for our time. Bethesda has some big shoes to fill if they want to match New Vegas up with it's popular counterpart.

With only about 5 hours of total game play it's shown me some different perspectives. I don't usually write a review with little time invested in a game, I like to at least make it halfway through before I judge. So this will be a partial review on how, I believe the game will play out. Here is what i have discovered so far...

The story line of the game coordinates with the previous title in some ways, you find that out as you play along with the story when starting out. I can see that there are many different changes as in enemies, weapons, skill vouchers that work with a temporary effect -- (Which was a good idea). There are also more options than the previous Fallout like an Ammo reload station, more control and additional choices to make with factions, karma balance, and the overall road you choose to take. I will admit that within the first couple hours of exploring, I notice that they throw more difficult enemies at you early on in the game like those damn rad scorpions. They are normally pretty simple to kill, but with your smaller pistol and beat up rifle you start with, unless you catch one of those things off guard, you are in for a little frustration. I also like the binocular idea. it's good to be able to scope ion on something in the distance without having to use a sniper rifle.

So far I give this game a 9.0 that can very easily change with further play. i hope I can get it to a 9.5 but I am going to be very harsh at judging this game because it is competing with Fallout 3. -- More to come soon...
