If this guy don't shut up i swear the Wii u controller is good so stop hating on Nintendo god!!!!!!!!! If you don't want to play with the super smash bros melee with a controller the size of a dinner plate than hold on to your GameCube you retard this guy is trolling.

A giant wireless controller with a big 'ol LCD screen. Battery life must be so awesome.

Maybe I can add some weights to my Wii U so I can get ripped as a I play

I liked the joke about the "dinner plate" size controller. He's right. Playing a first person shooter with that would be ridiculous and cumbersome, let alone Smash Brothers.

HonorOfGod 53 pts

oh wait I am getting a Wii for Skyward.. I am alset.

HonorOfGod 53 pts

They want money for GC games... no thanks! I will just pick up a gamecube.

So the Wii U can't play Gamecube discs, eh? I suppose it's a good thing I never got around to selling my Gamecube, then.

@jmallen99 I can see you're point but consoles can't be upgraded like PC's can, and upgrading PC's can go wrong if you don't know how to properly do it. As much as I would like not having to move from a PS2 to a PS3, we kind of had to and considering that older models can play PS2/PSX games, I wouldn't see a reason to complain. Now, yes, you CAN transfer Wii data to the Wii-U and that includes the Virtual Console. Personally, I don't have a half a dozen systems taking up my basement, more or less because I always buy the earliest model of the PS systems and get rid of the previous one in the brand. Samething with Nintendo and their Wii. Now, I'm going to keep the Wii because the Wii-U can't play GameCube games (though you can get them through the Virtual Console on the Wii-U) so I'm going to keep the Wii and it's so small I can't complain it taking up too much space. Not trying to convince you or anything like that but I'm just giving my two cents.

I brought out my Gamecube after hearing Wii U wasn't going to have Gamecube support. I would love to download GC games i never got to play. I figure you will be able to use the classic controller for GC games. I also hope you can transfer over your Wii game saves and all the other stuff you've got on your Wii. I'm hoping for a nice hard drive on Wii U was well.

@superfakerbros I actually used to own a GameCube, but I got rid of it when I found out that the Wii plays the GC games. I don't see why they can't build a system that will play all their disc-based games without milking the consumer (I'd even pay more for that feature!). I?ve never owned a PS system of any model, but if I were to have bought a PS3 I definitely would have sought out one of the earlier models that played PS1 or PS2 games, especially if I had a bunch of them already. Now another question is will the Wii U port over all your saved game files on your Wii? And what about the games you purchased from the Virtual Console? I can see if you lose these games, oh well. But not porting over save game files would be another deal breaking IMO. I guess I'll be hanging on to my Wii for several more years and not bothering with the Wii U. Sorry, I just don't want or need a half dozen consoles cluttering up my home theater unit. That's one of the half dozen big reasons why I stick mostly to PC gaming.

@jmallen99 It's not as if you were guaranteed that your model of the PS3 would play older PS2 or PS1 games. There are some older models that do and the newer ones definitely don't. Besides, you can get GameCube off of eBay for like $30 anyways.

What's funny is I wasn't looking at the screen at first. Anyway the "U-pad" is big,but those who've put their hands on it said it was light and comfy,so there you have it.

jmallen99 5 pts

Oh great, it will still play my Gamecube games but I have to download them (i.e. pay for them all over again) in order to play them. Will they have 3rd party Gamecube games available? This is close to a deal breaker for me. I can understand not being backwards compatible with older cartridge-based games, but it won't take Gamecube disc-based games? Again, Nintendo is one step behind everyone else (the last to have games on disc, the last to have games on DVD disc, the last to have HD - will the Wii U even play Blu-ray??).

if the controller is the size of a dinner plate for you... you eat really small meals bruh.

superfakerbros 5 pts

I'll just keep my Wii for GC/Wii games. My Wii-U will be for Wii-U games. As for controllers, I'll just use the Classic Controller or hope for Nintendo to release a GameCube Controller for the Wii-U.

We've got to get Sega Saturn on the Wii U too.

"With a controller the size of a dinner plate"... That was humor? .....

*sigh* another Ocarina of Time re-re-re-release....

s_h_a_d_o 119 pts

 I was doing exactly that @ReadySebbyGo (listening, not looking). Sorry. Is this a two-way monitor? Kudos on the onomatopoeia of the Dr. Who theme! :) The first thing that came to mind when the WiiU was announced, was the alien sound effects from Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds.

rpvarela 5 pts

This seems unfortunate... I have all my Gamecube disks and memory cards yet... on the other hand, it would be nice seeing titles such as PSO on a platform with real, free, online support like Monster Hunter 3 was on the wii, but I don't think it will happen, with Sega busy with PSO 2.

wisebandit 6 pts

nice t-shirt mate... thunder-cats forever...

Fayt1986 43 pts

@Frequenxy it will probly use the Wii classic controller unless the ports are hidden on the side again.

Frequenxy 5 pts

Wireless Gamecube controllers? Or maybe Gamecube to Wii controller adapters? Idk...I just hope I will be able to play with my Gamecube controllers on the downloadable Gamecube games instead of Nintendo revamping the controls...oh wait! How about I just keep my original Gamecube?

MadGamer132 5 pts

is this true? but nice gamespot uk "humor"!
