Fallout 3 has got to be one of the greatest games out today. It took me like 4 weeks to get this game because it was sold out everywhere and I couldn't even get it pre-owned. This game is one of the best and Bethesda has made a great job of it. I had my doubts of a Bethesda RPG being in the future and having guns, but this was a great title.

VATS looks interesting, and this game looks great. Can't wait to get it :)

I am now declaring that the next person who calls this game an FPS is a dumbass

danielreader22 5 pts

Uh, Gelugon baat? If you're looking at this comment, (which I hope you are) you DO know that you DON'T HAVE to use the VATS system, right? I mean, if I miss someone because it was a 5% chance of missing him, that would piss me off too. But you don't have to use the VATS system. So why are you complaining? It's just a cool feature. Don't let yourself be filled with dread just because a feature is letting you down, Gelugon baat. Just sayin'.

I don't think the character talks in Fallout 3 either

GamerDude911 5 pts

Yer i agree with everyone else hope its better than Oblivion the thing that really put me off oblivion was that the character youre playinga s doesnt talk i hope Fallout 3 doesnt make the same mistak and i agree with michaelsgreat.

This is only a taste of what it will be like but certainly far from the finished result. However in what little there is to show it certainly is looking very impressive!

This vid might not be good for business

i thought they would have fixed that oblivion crap. like at 8 secs how the enemy gets confused and runs back and forth, puts up his fists to fight, then decides to settle on kneeling for a shot. thats what ruined oblivion for me. also, the rag doll effects are still in slow-motion. otherwise, the rag doll physics are un-rivaled. also, hopefully, unlike oblivion, the player actually speaks. that turned me off to oblivion as the final straw... we need to feel part of the story. i did play the original fallout games as well. i happen to like the VATS, just not the textures on the ground and walls that pixelate upon proximity or the bad draw distances.

luckily there IS ambient music in this game instead of the happy music :)

Why do people moan on about the VATS system? Don't like it? don't use it-there you go.Happy? They'd have got even more grief if they'd made just another shooter and ignored the series heritage so they've almost bent over backwards to accommodate everyone-and still people want to moan. Besides there'll be a whole lot more depth when you have your character set up how you want and get to grips with the reward/experience system for yourself. Taster gameplay vids always show what you CAN do and not what you neccessarily have to.

Lordx67 5 pts

I hope this is more polished than Oblivion. It had it's fair shair of bugs, glitches and a whole a really bad draw distance

Also, to people out there complaining about VATS, you don't have to use it, you can actually play it as a first-person shooter. I mean, did you even watch the video? VATS isn't used on every single shot, that would be tedious.

I'm not trolling here, I've actually heard it was going to be slightly smaller than Oblivion in terms of total area to explore...

shahbazsharif 5 pts

i had read somewhere that one of the journalists had played this game for over 3 hrs and even then 98% of the map was to be explored

shahbazsharif 5 pts

yeah only a larger area to explore

Darrenmol 5 pts

is this going to be like oblivion?

DrizztDoUrden16 5 pts

Its not a fps and really shouldnt be, there are enough of those out there, go play gaylo if thats what you want, this is an rpg tool.

Looks fantastic. Love the VATS. Hope it has the deep character development and engaging plotline of the 1st 2. If I want to work on my hand to eye coordination, I'll go play basketball or beat up skaters. If you don't like the VATS, you don't have to use it.

I hate roll based shooters! I shoot at the head I better freaking hit the head! It is why I pay good money for a great precise mouse and work on my skills in aiming.

jp-gnr 5 pts

I agree with Gelugon_baat , the first time i saw fallout 3 gameplay there was smth that seemed wrong, In my opinion that s*** of VATS shouldn't be there, it takes out the sense of open world FPS that the game needs...

Gelugon_baat 694 pts

After watching this video, I am filled with dread. The video only showed how much of a chore aiming is, and the VATS system still used the percentage of hitting thing that I really hated when playing the Fallout games. All these points to a percentage based accuracy system, just like in the Fallout series, rather than the more FPS one used in Oblivion. And seriously, failing to hit someone in the torso when he/she/it is just five meters away just because the game rolled into the 5% chance of missing just angers me.
