Really good at everything; not great at anything,

This game is a challenge to rate. It was enjoyable to play, but not nearly as addictive as a great game,,,you know, when you can't get off the couch for 12 hours...when you want to call in sick to work. It does everything well, but nothing that's memorable.

Good:
1. Open world concept is well done, with some of the more 'realistic' sidequests I've found in a game. The world is well laid out and is large.
2. Character development/ skill progression is meaningfull; do I want to specialize in 'normal' guns (bullets) or concentrate on lasers; do I concentrate on recon attributes or just bulk up and charge,
3, Combat is engrossing if not overly fluid. The VATS slowmo;s are well done, if the blood and guts are a weeee bit over the top :)
4 I enjoy games where time matters....there is a night and day, meaning you can catch people asleep and travel at night is a little harrier.
5. Battles against e some otherncampments is a hoot
6. Unlike some ga,es, the save/ load system here is blessedly fast..

Bad:
1. Like many open world games, the main quest itself is fairly linear and brief...and the ending isnt memorable.
2. Combat is fairly clunky when compared against a fangtasy RPG or especially a shooter...you can't duck, hide and advance your position and you definitely can't just go in blazin....the combat is centred around the VATS slowmo battles.
3. No meaningful social interaction...sure you get trhe standard house that you can furnish, but there is no attachment to it or the town...and there is no real interaction with any NPC...can't make friends, can't get a girlfreind, family is very limited...started off like this was going to be the strength...quite a letdown. For me, this is what always separates the great games from the contenders.

Good, not great.
