An engrossing game that will have you hooked until the end.

I'll start off by saying I have never played the first two installments in the Fallout series but I must say I am impressed. As you may know Fallout 3's world is a very bleak wasteland that is filled with radiation and destruction and every man fending for themselves, not to mention most of the inhabitants have either mutated or ended up dying for the destruction that laid before them. Fallout 3 is a very frightening world if not horrific but it has its beauty in its own and very unique way so their is still light in at the end of the tunnel.

You start off in Fallout 3 living in a vault in which you have spent nearly your entire life before chasing after your Dad as he goes off to save the world from radiation stricken land. The story is very compelling and sucks you in but it does you leave you short changed and can be done 20 hours which is relatively short for a RPG game. You will also find Fallout 3 is riddled with bugs and graphics glitches and AI problems and will occasionally crash, but other than that nothing else will hinder your experience.

The VATS also fits perfectly into the game and I recommend that more RPG's have a system like it as it definitely makes combat a lot more easier and smoother to handle. The main problem with the system is that it is difficult to switch between targets( especially in heated battles) and it does slow combats down significantly.

The voice acting is done beautifully and it really does bring the game to life. It's not only the main characters that get a voice, you will find from the girl in the bar right down an old woman living in shack that every body has a voice which is very rare in a game. Especially in a world as big as Fallout 3. The radio stations are also very good but it won't suite everybody's taste as it is 1950's music with crooners left, right and center but for those who appreciate older music it's well worth the listen.

For my conclusion, you really can't go wrong with Fallout 3. As it is one of the most unique games you'll ever play but if you can deal with the bugs and some technical problems you are going to love Fallout 3.
