I have not had the problems many have noted in their reviews and in the game forums. After the patch, it worked for me with two exception: there is a key lag issues that I think has to do with my machine being a bit underpowered to run the game. I press a directional key and the character continues to run after releasing the key. Even playing the game on the lowest resolution has not fixed this issue. Posting this problem on the boards also has not resulted in any satisfactory fix. The second problem was a BSOD issue in the middle of the game after completing a quest. It was a side-quest, thus not crucial to completing the game, but a bit of an annoyance.
Others have described the game and game play in great depth. I don't have anything new to add except that my personal experience has been very positive. I've wasted hours playing this thing, to the detriment of other more "useful" things I could be doing, but hey, I definitely got my entertainment money's worth out of it.
