So I have a companion with me and he was blocking my way so tried to get him to follow me inside the room a little farther so I could get out. Well, I got stuck on a bed and trying to get out I slept. Now my auto save file is useless just lost an hour or so gameplay.

that's happened to me before. it sucks but theres nothing you can do about it except save often.

Friends,
YEP, you walk into a small room, see that nothing is there, and turn around, only to have your companion block the way. some times I run to the very back. and just run back and forth, to kinda DRAW them in, so I can run around them.
I was once blocked by a dog on these stairs, and I finally just attacked it, to get it to move, then I had to run from it.
Mostly companions are done pretty well, in open ground. In tight quarters, there are risks.
Like above says, save often. At least you can. so use it.
Good luck.

I normally do but I was just exploring looking for components to some weapons. I'll have to suck it up and just go back and get the items again. But I think I am taking a day away from the game.

By using smoke bomb you are unable to hunt and kill like a true assassin, you must kill defenceless people instead.

Save the game, go into VATS, attack the companion with a melee or unarmed attack. The game teleports you to a random spot near the guy you're attacking when you do this, so just keep attempting this (and reloading if it goes wrong) until it places you on the other side of the companion.

Talk to your companion and fire them. When they go to leave, get out of your tight spot then go rehire them.

If you fell for it, it isn't cheap. It is just something that works on you. Adapt.. Or curl up in the fetal position, your call.

That's faster and easier

Was he glitched into the door or am I missing something? I always just push my companions around when they're in my way. Fawks won't get down off of a building? Run back up and push him off the edge. Dogmeat is in my way on the way back down the stairs? Spend five minutes pushing him down and out.

Glad it got resolved. Good to know for teh VATS glitch. This is one of the things I really liked that they added in FO:NV was that when you just stand nose to nose w/ your companion, they walk back a few steps. It's subtle so it doesn't really change gameplay, but enough movement to avoid situations like this.

Doesn't opening up the PS3 console void the warranty?

PC has a console menu where you can type in commands to get out of glitched situations like this, as well as give yourself all kinds of neat little bonuses, otherwise unobtainable armor, etc.
Someone might not have realized s/he was on the PS3 board, though.

Even so, not everyone is all that bright and might actually decide "hey I'm gonna open my PS3!" Used to work at an independent game store. We did repairs and the like; you should see how people bring their systems in ...
