Breath of fresh air to the genre. One of the most interesting and compelling adventure games in years.

User Rating: 10 | Face Noir PC
Face Noir is not big budget, fancy facial animation AAA stud. But what it brings is a breath of fresh air to the dried genre and it is game which contains interesting new gameplay mechanics and interactivity tools making it a diamond in the rough. Story is structured as a mixture of many noir-based film classics and has many famous cinema moments and mentions. Characters are unique (in a way they can be as a tribute to something, in this case, golden age of Hollywood) and they grow on you. Script as a whole, dialogue and monologue based sentences, character's comments at things and people in the world are some of the shiniest in history of PC adventure games (and I'm not exaggerating saying the word "history"). Main protagonist is as anti-heroic as he could be, with references to the, again, many famous movie stars with his behavior as well with his name: Del Nero. Voice acting is not at the top of the "AFI list of the best voice acting in the animated product", but it does its job way beyond of the average adventure game. Coming as a long P&C games fan, I must say that this game really kept me glued at the screen for a long mesmerizing number of hours. With great atmosphere of urban 1930s New York and areas to explore, interesting and challenging puzzles, some innovative gameplay elements and great writing, Face Noir is a must-play for all the fans of the point and click adventure games.
