Fable: the Lost Chapters truly makes up to it's name. Honestly, if story doen't drive you, it's semi-sandbox gameplay style will! Starting from the beginning, the game already shows you the power of the good deed/bad deed system, in which your actions affect your personality, how people think of you, even your apperance. if you decide to become satan's spawn, you gain lava for hands and legs, scorching the ground as you walk MUAHHAHAHAHAA! whereas if you become one of the righteous, you get a spiffy halo over your head and simply shimmer with your white glow, something everyone loves, even the ladies.

As for the character and gameplay, the design is nearly flawless. instead of playing like most "turn based" RPGs. this game, like Kingdom Hearts, lets you control how fast and how strong your hits (and spells) will be when you smite a foe, and your hero is fully customizable. prefer a stealthy kill? or do you enjoy punching someone's head clear off their shoulders? with the games experience level up "shop", you can "purchase" new abilities and increase attributes depending on how much experience you gain. the abilities can make you a strong barbarian, a deadly archer, or a powerful mage, or anything in between! there is no limit to how you look, act, and play in this game.

abilities isn't the only thing you can purchase in Fable. If you so desire, you can purchase houses and shops for your own profit, improving and renting out your property as you please. you can even sport your well earned trophies for extra cash. it doesn't stop there, if you get the owner of a shop or house to somehow "accidentally" fall on your blade, you can by his/her house/shop as if they never owned it. It is possible to own an entire town, I own three!

Some of the best experiences you get out of the game would be missed if you bypass the optional quests. some quests range from saving people from typical raids, to finding a deed to a "pleasure" house in the middle of a forest, this game has it all. who wouldn't get a good laugh about a child getting beaten senseless by bandits and have him say "aagh! someone's trying to kill me! this is the best day of my life!" As for the new additions to the game, it blends well into the game, it is hard to tell where they changed things. Fable has seen new clothes, stories, even new spells to add to its impressive roster.

However, the only problems with the improvments is that, in some cases, there is simply not enough. some old spellcaster fans of the original Fable will be dissapointed by the two (incredibly similar) spell they had added, which the only difference is how the spell is presented. the other additions simply don't feel complete, such as the new clothing which only really involve two new sets of hats. another dissapointment is that the Fable desgners decided to take out a few goodies, like how some used to be able to get weapons from temple and bring youth to their old bones through sacrifices, this is no longer the case.

But overall, the game is well rounded and near perfect. the new lands (well, land) and the new storylines really add on to the game, (the game doesn't end with the sword of aeons). However, most who have tried and word out their interest in fable won't find much to come back to, except maybe a few more guards and bandits to punch, or slice, or fry. you decide.
