Its about time he goes back to what he's good at. Black and White were the only games that he made I'd recommend. He would make a good politician though.

even i want to learn how to take a dumb little idea and talk about it for more than an hour. molyneux is a genius (at talking, not at making games. fable sucks donkey balls)
I completely love the B&W games, in fact, I just replayed and finished B&W2 for the 5th time, it never gets old. I really do hope that there will be a B&W3. I've played the Fable series too, very entertaining but I just like B&W more. This guy makes great games.

I think it's fair to say Peter Molyneux is THE best hype-man for his games, but a mediocre game developer at best.

At the 39 minute mark you get insight on why fable turned out the way it is. Peter pretty much says that he is against the difficulty level of games increasing as the game progresses. No wonder Fable always seemed water down and to easy.
It seems that he isn't great at challenging action games so he decided on making them easy enough for the lost common denominator .
Great interview BUT, and big BUT, this sounds exactly like B&W, which I love. Am I the only one to notice this?
Say what you want about him. I just love his enthusiasm and think that this industry desperately needs people like him who actually care about video games and are willing to take risks within it. Thank you Tom Mcshea for this great interview. Best of luck to Peter Molyneux.
Peter Molyneux promising more than he can deliver, is part of his charm imo. His enthusiasm alone makes him a interesting figure.
Industry luminary? What the heck is wrong with you, Tom? Did you wrote that? And then you dare mention games like Fable: the Journey? He's not an "industry luminary". I swear, every article about Molineaux on Gamespot is about his freaking greatness and his shiny, soft and flavoured bottom. He only made mediocre games all his life. Just stop it!

Mediocre.... Yes, that's why most of his games received high critical praise along with very positive gamer reaction... Molyneux is brilliant, and he made some very original and funny games, especially when he was at Bullfrog. My favorite of his games to this is still Dungeon Keeper.
@xsonicchaos He's well known and has quite a few ideas about where the industry is going or where it should be going that are worth contemplating and discussing. Maybe he doesn't inspire you, but his ideas are definitely intriguing and/or inspiring to me. Why would you not regard him as a luminary?
A lot of the games he worked on with Bullfrog back in the day are still held in high regard.
@mrbrainheart i don't say he doesn't have good ideas (good, not amazing) or that some of his work is inspiring, but the end product is never something out of the ordinary. in fact, let us make a demonstration: take a piece of paper and a pen (or just open a notepad file) and write everything you want to see in a game as a bucket list, then try to place as many of those ideas in a context. if you lack creativity, you can't make that happen, but i have fate in you. soon you'll develop a story and characters, even new gameplay mechanics. if it's bad or good depends on one thing: hype. the higher, the better. you think someone gives a crap about quality anymore?
Best of luck sir in getting your kickstarter funded. why don't you yourself back it and call it a success. I heard you have enough money. that way neither will you feel embarressed, also people would 've contributed some part of it.

Even if you've been disappointed by his recent work, Peter Molyneux is always exciting! I always find it impossible to resist having a look at what he's currently producing.
I would rather have him produce a number of sub-standard games but one day bring out something genuinely genre-changing than bore my way through another COD clone.

You know what's more interesting than watching the interview from start to end ?
Letting the entire video cache and then play it, jumping to random locations in the video every second - Do this for a minute and you'll get the same amount of information out of it.
No matter how many interviews he gives, I and many more remember that all of his recent games sucked and probably didn't even feature 1/100th of all the ideas for features he dreamt up and the prototype video if Godus doesn't show anything interesting either, so he's still not getting my money upfront.
You sir, release a game that doesn't disappoint me (again) and is more than unfinished features and empty promises and I'll gladly send some money your way, but screw it up (again) and you'll stay on my shitlist.
I've never understood the hype surrounding Peter Molineux. Black and White 1 and 2 were awesome, but that's about it for me.
I'd love to see Black and White 3, but that's about all.
Man he's looking old. This is a nice setting for an interview, much better than some room in a website's office or at a convention.I have no interest in Godus, those kind of games were good in their time but not that enjoyable to play now, imo.
However, I'm fascinated by Curiousity, I think its genius. It worked unlike most things he's done because the whole game is the very essence of one of his intriguing ideas. Simple.
Great video. I like it they did this outside studio. Can we have more of this in future? Featuring other game developers, of course.

@FPSRTSMMOplayer meh... don't know about populous, but fable 3 was ok, definitely a beautiful looking game graphically, and had an excellent combat system as well.
but daaamn! wy did he have to put popups in the game for dlc? i was like wtf? lol fail!!!! also the game had a lot of political overtones that really rubbed me the wrong way, theroad to rule made the game either too hard or too easy, can't die in the game so nothing you do (combat wise) makes you care, and the load screens where pure hell. but even all with those fatal flaws (and others as well) it was still a really enjoyable game.
ok 2 games (for me) fable 3 (a game a lot of people hated bit i really enjoyed) and black and white.
