GameSpot interviews Codemasters' Andy Gray about their take on the Formula 1 racing license.
Glad Codemasters are still doing racing games! Me and my best friend love playing GRID online for its realistic feel and physics and graphics. I havent seen any decent games in demo form for years sadly... Also I totally agree with Andy about the rain.
LOL i thought they were interviewing Andy Gray from Sky Sports that annoying scottish commentator that knows nothing about football.
I Hope it Doesnt Rain all the time at Silverstone like with 2005. i hate that perception that its always raining in uk .
I cant wait till the game comes out its goning to be very AWESOME!!!
wow this game sounds amazing. Between this and Test Drive 2....it's gonna be a fun Q3 for racing/car fans...
@Guimengo1 Ain't that the truth. Hopefully this won't be JUST a pretty racer, which seems to be why Codemasters have been getting away with what they've made so far. And they had better not put any tedious menus like Dirt 2. Nobody wants to spend half the race timespan clicking through menu screens trying to get into a damn race.
There was a 2009 version? The last good F1 Games for PC are Grand Prix 4, and F1 Challenge 99-02. GP4 is better if you play with a digital controller, the other game plays best with analog (although obviously GP4 works just as well analog). I'd recommend getting the EA game because it has a great community addon support and imo better handling.
the weather system sounds great.demo please
whens the demo comimg out#
At least it can't be worse than F1 2009. What could go wrong? Touch wood...
I so hope this game delivers but as enthusiastic as I am I have to remind myself it's Codemasters that's behind it. They've created some horrendous racing titles and made a lot of promises about this game that have already been called off, such as laser-scanned tracks. We were also told they're moving further and further away from the sim side of it, but not arcade (they say). Us fans deserve a good F1 title! It will be great not having to use rFactor mods anymore if this is good :D. GPL may finally be put to rest.
This game looks awesome
You look like a fool with those buns.
/me wants.
best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is gonna have best racing system ever cant wait to play this on my PS3 stuff my 360 lol
absolutely perfect!!! can't wait!!! Best game ever!!
Forget GT5! I'm getting F1 2010!
IS IT SEPTEMBER YET!!!!! AHHHH i WOULD DO ANYTHING TO SKIP THIS SUMMER AND LET IT BE SEPTEMBER!
I wonder how they will implement the f-duct stuff on certain cars etc.
Have Codies talked about Multiplayer? I hope this game has 24 player online multiplayer, where you can qualify, and race an equivalent of a race weekend .... that would be pretty sweet!
For people complaining about the color filters in the past games of GRID and Dirt, you can change it on the PC. Mods have been available to remove the color filter for a long time, and if this one has a filter that people don't like, it will be modded out soon as well. Hopefully it won't be necessary, and they will make it an option if they have it at all. Also, don't expect Netkart Pro physics here, as its meant to be accessible to new comers as well, and probably not going to be a full on, hardcore simulation in physics, but we'll have to wait and see when the finished product is released. I just hope they get the force feedback a little better than Grid/Dirt was, but Dirt 2 had great FFB for an arcade rally game, so I'm hopeful that they learned their lesson since then.
we need good grafics and mmore realistic
I'm really worried about the controls. Grid 1 and 2 were not really simulation games. I want this one to be a simulation where you can really feel the car around the track. F1 is all about precision driving, not skidding around.
I think ill get... I love F1 and it looks beautiful!!!
This looks amazing but seeing codemasters is making the game, I'm afraid the controls are going to be touchy like Grid, and Dirt 2. Hopefully, they'll fix the touchy controlling, especially for people who are so used to Gran Turismo.
The idea of a career mode in somewhat the "personal soap opera" style sounds GREAT. Looking forward to seeing how they can replicate the experience of being one of 24 huge public figures that all have some kind of cult following. Gossip does run the sport, after all. As a point of fairness, the real teams might be a tad insulted on how they're defined as 'starter' or 'end' teams. This is partially realistic, but still often subjective and somewhat variable... we should just have our pick, imo. Last thing I'm extremely curious about is Safety Car use or omission. It's part of the real random variables that drastically change races, just as weather does.
looks great..i dont usualy buy racing games but this game could change that
i hate that ego engine, so yellow. annoying
Nice rain! Glad to see some wet racing conditions at last. I know DiRT 2 wasn't an F1 game but the lack of rain and snow (aside from some puddles) was a let down for me. If someone sticks a mic in my face on the grid I'll just say "phenomenal" deadpan Nigel Mansell style... *cue Muppets song... "Phenomenal.. do doo de doo doo.. Phenomenal.. do do dee doo..." Speaking of TV... does anyone know if there's going to be a replay system that records more than say the last 60 seconds? Ideally the entire race replay should be saveable as a file for posterity (and for analysing the data), like we had w/ the Geoff Crammond games. It's like these programmers have a passion to make great looking games... but seem to like making it difficult to actually see it with a lack of camera options or a "free" camera that goes anywhere. Yes, I want my camera to be going anywhere in the pitlane with the ladies in those wet conditions... Looking forward to spinning the car 180, driving the wrong way round the track and down the pitlane and in all the gravel until there's nothing left of my car but a survival capsule skidding and sparking down the track... marshalls waving flags like crazy.
Where's the vivid colors? Why so YELLOWISH?
@fearless_alive Well... Let's just hope for this))
The Active Track technology sounds very impressive.
@Psycold - I just use a USB XBOX 360 controller. Not as immersive, but just as fun. @Guest1947 - Electronic Entertainment Expo = E3 @memrie - The fiscal year actually starts at the beginning of July, however I'm sure the dudes on GameSpot simply mean the regular Q3 (July - September). I can't wait for this one. GRID rocked, this one's gonna be brilliant!
@Magatsu23 I would save your self about £100 and get a G25 instead they are the same besides the G27 has 4 more buttons on the wheel and shift lights...
I got a fairly cheap thrustmaster racing wheel a few weeks back because it was all I could afford, been using it for GRID and DIRT2, both a lot of fun, and it makes me wish I had invested in a good wheel like some of you guys. I'm just glad people are still making racing games for PC, and I'm especially glad it's Codemasters because they support my cheapo wheel!
Andy Gay  I KEED.I KEED =)
@JustClient If you look carefully it says that Pre-Alpha build. So this is just the beginning stage of the graphics. It also says that they used 2009 model cars just to show off the stuff that will be in the game. So the final product will be much much different from this one.
@Magatsu23 Let me know how you like the G27. I started to get it but decided to go with the cheaper Driving Force GT wheel. The GT wheel is awesome, but no clutch.
I can't wait for this game.... I just got my Logitech Force Feedback GT wheel... is badass
Well let's just hope the visuals from the video are not the visuals from the final game... Looks like 1998 stuff.
this is going to be awesome. I´m buying a G27 wheel just for this game.
Wow! Probably the best F1 Race ever, I'll keep an eye on this one..
Sounds like they've really done their homework. This is shaping up to be the best F1 game ever!! :D
what does E3 mean? is it just a gaming event?
@mr3bdulla - Q3 is an abbreviation for Quarter 3, or 3rd Quarter. In business, this is in reference to the fiscal year. Q1 = January through March. Q2 = April through June. Q3 = July through September. Q4 = October through December.
Sick game!
This looks like fun. I'll keep an eye on this.
It means third quarter of year.
what does Q3 mean
