F-Zero was a release date purchase for me in 1998. Of course, it wasn't with my money but my parents' money, so I had made sure to do my research in Game Informer and Nintendo Power beforehand to make sure like it seemed like a worthy game to use the 50 dollars for. I was not disappointed.

This series is really the must-have for futuristic racing fans as it incorporates all of the staples of a great racer in one whole package. The gravity and physics are unforgiving, the handling is finicky and yet somehow precise, and the graphics are edgy for its time.

Each track is very intense in that it incorporates all 3 geometrical axes. Complimented by great sound design, you really get lost in this web of gameplay. Also, throw in 30 different machines into the mix and you have a good time. Each car handles differently, and has a different '90s-esque driver.

One of the poor parts of the game is the unforgiving difficulty in the Expert classification. Additionally, some of the rasterized backgrounds are repeated and this adds a little ho-hum factor to the game.

Ultimately this game is a blast that is very much timeless for the N64. Falcon... Review'd!
