The third F-Zero game out for a home console, GX is the perfect example that the third times the charm.
Gx is the best handling game in the franchise to date. Each machine is graded in body(durability of your machine), boost(differs the amount of speed gain after using boost power or hitting speed booster), and handling(how easy it is to navigate turns and drifts of your machine). These stats in turn can effect your top speed, cornering, acceleration, and body. This results in a massive selection of vehicles, not to mention the custom machines, and the F-Zero arcade game AX and it's racers. Their is literally a car for everyone's individual style.
Their are a total of almost 30 tracks and each is unique. You will see returning favorites like big blue, mute city, Sand ocean(i still hate it), Port Town and fire field plus the new locales such as Green Plant, Casino Palace, Aeropolis, Lightning, and my favorite new locale Cosmo Terminal. And don't even get me started on the last hard ass track in the game Phantom Road. Each track looks and feels unique. From the huge jumps of Aeropolis Dragon Road to the nail biting hairpin turns of Mute city serial gaps you never feel like you're doing the same thing twice unless you die that is. there are also unlockable tracks from the arcade game but i haven't unlocked any of them yet.
One of the things FF-Zero is known for is it's stellar sound track. This time around most of the music is techno or new age, with less sweet guitar riffs that made F-Zero X's soundtrack so freakin sweet. The new mute city song is a good update and Fire Field is just amazing. But the worst songs in the game has to me the new Big Blue theme in my opinion it doesn't sound like F-Zero in the slightest. otherwise the music is impeccable. Their is also a story mode with nine chapters to complete, each is incredibly unbalanced to the next. It took me around 30 try's to beat the first mission on hard and to beat the second on very hard took me like 4. The story mode is otherwise refreshing and the cutscenes are pretty entertaining to.
The only major complaint i have is how the cpu is just so freakin good no matter how many times you spin attack them on expert they just dodge it like they can read your mind. one mor compliant i have is how the new racer from AX have cooler looking and more detailed machines than the standard racers i.e spark moon, Fat shark, Rainbow phoenix look better than any other machine sorry blue falcon.
F-Zero is an amazing franchise that just doesn't seem to get old, and GX is the crown jewel of the series. i highly recommend you go bargain bin diving at EB games or any other place you can. Buy it now!
