F.E.A.R. User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Immersive"
As we all know FPS games have nothing but weapons to shoot down enemies. For an ordinary gamer that would be enough. But for hardcore shooting fans F.E.A.R. has more in store. F.E.A.R. stands for First Encounter Assault Recon, a special force. You wont have any teammates though to help you.
Story: Briefly, the story is about a paranormal activity research called 'Project Origin'. The story revolves around a girl named Alma. She was born with paranormal abilities and is the subject of the research. Her son also has these powers and is trying to free her from the vault where she is kept. you will constantly be spooked by both of them. The research facility and its office are abandoned. Your mission is eliminate Alma or else she will cause chaos. An army of telepathically controlled clones are against you. During your gameplay phone recorded messages and occasionally people help you out.
Audio & Voice acting: This part is truly well done with cinematic dialogues and music, you'd wish a movie was made out of this game. All the dialogues with the background music and effects will amaze you.
Gameplay: This could be the best possible gameplay ever to be experienced in an FPS. All guns have their individual natural recoil and sounds. The best part is the SloMo which can be used in intense action offensively or to dodge bullets. It is just like in Max Payne, only longer. Another tricky part to tackle here is the enemies. you can lean from cover and surprise them. One bad feature is you cannot pick up stuff to use it as cover or other purposes.
Graphics: As compared to a game of 2005, extremely good graphics is all to say.
Re-playability: Yes, it is quite re-playable. The difficulty level can be increased and if saved games are available, it's fun to replay certain intense levels.
Weapons: lots of cool weapons ranging from ordinary ones like assault rifles and pistols to experimental weapons(very powerful and rare)
F.E.A.R. may be already old and may be getting older but few games in the future can compete with its style. Worth buying and a must play game for any FPS gamer. There are also expansion packs available for it.

A sci-fi shooter with both exciting gameplay and a convincing sense of dread is rare, but F.E.A.R was that game.

Despite it's age it's still the best F.E.A.R in the series. It's an original game and it's spooky as hell.

One of my favourite games of all time but one that nobody seems to have ever heard of.

F.E.A.R 3 Fettel ending. You get it by playing Fettel in single-player, or being the "favorite son" during co-op play. Considered the bad ending.Posted Jul 31, 2011
