The expansions just don't live up to the hype of the original.

User Rating: 7.5 | F.E.A.R. Files X360
After the success of the first game, the good folks at Monolith bring X360 users the expansions that were released for the PC version. While these games offer great fun and adventure - the first expansion, Extraction Point, is definatly stronger than the second expansion on the disk, Perseus Mandate.

Extraction Point, the stronger of the two, takes place exactly where F.E.A.R ended. It continues you in your quest to destroy Paxton Fettel and Alma - while at the same time, continueing the fight against the replica soldiers. The story is presented in the same ways as in the original; cutscenes, gameplay, phone messages, information on laptops, and through chatter between other F.E.A.R members. The presents new locations, some new weapons, and a new enemy (some ghost-apperition). The game takes on the "get from Point A to Point B" mentallity through the enitre campaign. The main objective (as the name suggests) is to get to the extraction point. Seeing as this game is really similar to the original - there is'nt too much bad things you can say about it.

Perseus Mandate - however - is the weaker of the two expansions. This one takes place during the plot of the original. You play as a sergeant of another F.E.A.R team. However, even though you are playing as a different player and not the point-man, you still have the slo-mo ability - which made this game and the others seem too much like exactly the same. The story of this expansion is actually pretty good. You are out to find the DNA of Paxton Fettel and protect it from a NEW ENEMY FORCE, the mercenaries who are also trying to get to it. You also have another Alma ghost - a ghost that grabs through the floor and tries to grab you. You also have some new weapons to play with, which is a plus. The story is, again, played through the same as Extraction Point. Perseus Mandate, being the weaker of the two games - has weaker graphics, and less cleaner gameplay.

Apart from the campaign - as usual - you have Instant Action and multiplayer. It's the same as the original, which while it's not bad, makes you wish that they had included some new material.

All in all, F.E.A.R Files can be a great addition to your X360 collection - but only if you really liked F.E.A.R. It really is'nt a game that you HAVE TO, HAVE TO get. The collection really does not offer too much new material - and one of the expansions is definatly better than the other. Recomended mostly for big F.E.A.R fans.
