The best FEAR game yet.

This is my favorite game of the series, granted this isn't my favorite series of all time. For horror suspense games they just aren't that scary. As time passes so graphics get better. Obviously this game is the best looking of the three, but compared to other games of the same year its really not that impressive. A lack of visual detail and clarity is all too present. There is a nice variety of environments compared to the previous two games though. I especially enjoyed the warehouse setting. The warehouse was the one place that truly conveyed a sense of dread. As always the fear series maintains its wonderful shooting dynamics and its solid sense of pacing. There is the usual bunch of weapons to choose from and the usual enemies. The story wraps up pretty good and you finally get a better sense of what the background is for "point man", paxton fettel, and alma. I promise that by the end of the game everything ties up pretty nicely. You start out the game as point man and of course you can still activate bullet time with him. The action slows down so you can get a good upper hand on the opponents. This is nothing new, but still works great and is fun to tinker with. Fear 3 begins to seperate itself from the previous entries in its multiplayer. After you beat the game with point man you can go back and replay the game with paxton. He plays much differently. Paxton can fire pulses of energy, he can manipulate enemies physically, and he can possess enemies. In essence you've got the whole campaign from another perspective. If you play co-op the fun really ratchets up. One player plays as point man and the other as paxton. The two characters compliment each other really well. The music is the typical spooky atmosphere type stuff mixed in with the tense combat type stuff. Bonus points for using Danzig's Mother in the ending credits though!

Summation: The Fear games have never done the best job of being scary in my opinion, but boy are they fun and this one is the best yet.
