The first time I played Excitebots on the Wii was at my friend Justin's house. He claimed it was one of his favorite games ever. So I decided to play it, and I never let go of the Wii control. In fact, I played this game for hours upon hours, and when I was supposed to go home, I didn't, because I was still playing the damn game! It's that good!

If you've played Excitetruck before, Excitebots will be second nature to you. The big difference is that you're playing as robotic animals instead of driving trucks. Some courses have 2 laps, some have 3. One thing's for sure, however; they all have a lot of surprises and gimmicks to keep you coming back for more.

This offroad racer is anything but realistic. You'll get crazy powerups like a tambourine, weapons like bombs, and challenges such as kicking a football or throwing a dart at a target. These all get you stars. The more stars you get, the higher grade you get for the course. You also do tricks, although these aren't very deep.

What is deep is Excitebot's crazy gameplay. I like how the scenery gets blurry as you go really fast. The speed is awesome and there are lots of gadgets to send you across shortcuts and up hills. You can change the elevation of the ground and even get a speed boost from big air. The scenery is very nice, and the game's tracks are reasonable in length. Racing is very addictive and challenging, but never boring or tedious. I can't remember the last time I gave my Wii controller a serious handjob, but I did with this game. The tracks include China, Mexico, and Scotland, and they're all crazy fun. My favorite is probably China, with its lush swamps and chinese houses. Hell, you can even RACE on water! How sweet is that! Let me tell you, it is very sweet. The multiplayer is nice as well, and my friend Justin and I were at it with each other. There's no Computer players, but even so, it's awesome playing the game against a screaming friend and catching HUGE air.

If I had a complaint, it would be the controls. They're very loose, and you can crash into a lot of trees sometimes. The game visits the same places over and over again, which is disappoint because the game could use a little more variety. Where's the four player mode as well?

The graphics are great. The areas are bright and imaginative, and the framerate is smooth. The music is above average, and the title screen music reminded me of 1080 Snowboarding (Nintendo 64, 1998).

Despite its flaws, if you want a gravity defying game for your Wii, brake down and get Excitebots: Trick Racing. If not for the controls, I'd prefer this to Mario Kart Wii! Make sure you don't miss out on this insanely fun game.
