They should think about implementing a "deathmatch" like mode for EVE so that people can simply pick their ships and fight pitched battles or accomplish scripted missions and maybe earn points for unlocks.

It would open the game for new clientele (like me), players who are not interested in endless grinds, continued interaction with players and everything else that makes MMORPG a MMORPG.

And it would cost them next to nothing since they already have decent combat mechanics, huge array of ships and lore to back any story they want to implement in the new game.

always wanted to get into this, but i feel like its too much of a time investment and im 10 years behind the curve

 @blackothh to get into the game at this point, you need to buy a character for like $50 or so, to get you started. But if you start from scratch you will learn more... The great thing about EVE is that there is something for everybody: Industry, PVP, PVE, mining...
