Let me start by saying the first time I played EVE it was in 2005, after awhile I got bored and stopped. But EVE pulled me back in because it is truly a game that has no other like it.

I must say EVE at first can scare many people away and without a doubt does, has and will continue too. Its best to use what is given you at its fullest. The community is very friendly to the newbies and will always be willing to help. And the in game tutorial is slow buy very informative.

The thing I like most about EVE is the freedom within it. You can be ANYTHING in the game. From a simple miner, and producer, a combat hardened pod pilot to a hated criminal. The freedoms are almost endless, and the game is open to whatever YOU want to do. But this also leads to people NOT knowing what to do. This can lead to poorly developed characters which are easily taken advantage of. But with the guiding hand of a friend or you CEO you can overcome this very common issue.

I have found the leveling system to be a great asset assuring that your progress in the game is only impeded by your lack of training the right skills, and not a lack of play. Again this can be a problem with the multitude of skills but, again, with the help of older players this can be easily overcome.

At times I must admit eve can be a dull experience, and the time it takes to do some things upsetting. These are truly minor issues as you can ALWAYS find something to do, and if your just sitting around you most likely don't have to be.

Some people will find the combat to be dull, you hit a F-key and wait. But really, if you take a look at all MMO's, that's what they are, you hit a key, and an animation will follow, some can be fast paced like say, WoW or AoC, and others slow, like EVE. But combat in EVE isn't always slow, as you gain skills you will search out harder fights. These fights become a management game of your capacitor, not unlike a health bar, but unlike your health bar if it drops to zero it wont mean death, but most likely it will occur. Combat at higher levels will become faster paced, like any MMO, but to get to the higher levels takes a longer time than most, or all MMO's. By a month to a month and a half of training skills you will be into harder faster more intense fights, but you will ALWAYS be working towards them, and they will always be getting harder, just at a slower rate than most people are used to.

If given time eve will blossom into a great experience , at the end of the 14 day trail, its really the START of the game. By 14 days of training you will have reached the limits of what they allow, and it will start to get better after that. The start of EVE is Slow, and may turn you away, but as you learn the ropes it will become a great game.

Many things haven't been said here, but you can look elsewhere, as EVE has a great community, willing and able to share all knowledge of the game. The bottomline here is that EVE takes time, and if it is given time it will truely become a great game if not the best you will ever play. I have played WoW, AoC, and others, but none have kept my interest or pulled me back in like EVE.
