This was my fighting game of choice in the summer of 1994.

User Rating: 8.8 | Eternal Champions GEN
So given that it has now been over ten years since I first played this game and probably 8 years since I last played it, this is going to be a bit rough. Eternal Champions revolves around the story of nine figures from history who all die before they have a chance to set the world right. Death has allowed them to face each other and the eternal champion to go back to moments before there death and set things right for all of humanity. While the graphics are slow and just standard for the day and age, it was the gameplay that made up for it. In the tournament mode you are given a meter that fills up when you block, injure your opponent or do some special moves that increases the meter. This allows you to do different special moves. if your meter is to low than you are unable to perform certain moves. So this just adds to the amount of attention you pay to what you are doing because while you might have enough to do two weapon throw moves you might not have enough for one throw and a special flip attack. Also, if you finish your enemy off in a certain way or location you can unlock deaths for your opponents that are either related to how they died in their life or related to there location. This was hilarious when you could add insult to injury by bashing the snot out of someone and then watch as a dinosaur munches on you or knocking your opponent into a waiting bon fire and watch them torch. The sound consists of some beeps, crashes and smacks with some very awful music scores (usually would turn them off.) But back when I was playing this game a lot with other people I hadn't really noticed all of the background noise. This game held such a nostalgia effect for me that I kept the game guide up until a few months ago. Sadly it had to hit the trash to make room for other stuff. :( So if you have some friends that are into fighting games and you are also a classic game lover then I would highly recommend this title.
