User Rating: 4.9 | ESPN Sunday Night NFL SNES
ESPN NFL Sunday is a game that has some major positives, but with enough negatives to make it an average football game. Some of these fall under the categories below. A few that don't... Major plus that ESPN got license with the NFL to use actual NFL teams and players. Some games have teams that are like the real ones, but slightly off. And another great thing about the game is that it involves the standard set up of ESPN's NFL show at the time of release. Gameplay: 4/10 Most of the game management is great. Stat keeping is done well, as well as out of game navigation. When on the field, there are some good things and some bad things. The controls themselves for running plays is fairly standard. But the part that brings the gameplay down is the play selection. There are a ton of plays, which is good. But there are too many options. You have to press 4 buttons to chose which play. And the play chart is confusing. The gameplay view is similar to the Madden games which are much more popular for good reason. Graphics: 6/10 The graphics are alright. There is not a lot of player detail, like most games of that era. The field and play is not bad. The best part of the graphics is clearly the likeness of Chris Berman, the ESPN anchor when he does the in between the game talking. Sound: 5/10 Overall the sound isn't bad. The music is a little to triumphant for my taste. And it would have been great if there would be talking... or even simulated talking. But instead, there are words 'printed' for the player to read. Reviewer's Tilt: 5/10 This game can be fun if you get into it. But since you have a choice for other football games, this is not the one to choose. It's good enough. But others are better.
